It’s been almost 4 years since I’ve made pillowcases, but I just enjoyed the thought of laying my head down into a pasture with cows so much at night I didn’t want to give it up!
It was also getting old and didn’t go with my now one year old giant Batman logo comforter.
So I dug out some colourful Batman cotton prints I had
And made some BAT pillowcases!
It’s an ordinary pillowcase except that everything is serged (except for a couple of folded down serge finished edges) and turned inside out, and the sizing is such that it uses up every inch of 45″ wide fabric! That includes the selvage that gets trimmed in serging and can be folded under in the bottom side! It’s also efficient in that you don’t have to cut all those fabric edges on your pieces, and every cut in the middle makes two pieces so you get two edges with one. It’s like getting free edges and 2 for 1 that you cut! Now THAT is a deal!

I LOVE this design I came up with for sizing that fits, uses all the 45″ width of fabric and saves so many cuts! Works more efficiently if you make an even number at a time, but is still pretty efficient for one pillowcase at a time. So simple to serge together and so durable for all the serging! I feel these could almost last forever. In some ways, I wish they would so I wouldn’t have to make more, but for how easy they are to make and for some variety, in some ways, I want to make many more. It’s just too bad most won’t go with my Batman logo comforter that is SO comfortable!
