The second is a more drawn out “musicals” version that is much easier to play if you’re not yet able to play it like the original with its funky rhythms and syncopations. I call it a “musicals” version because it sounds like how I imagined it would if it were in a musical. Too bad the Little Mermaid musical never made use of it because I couldn’t imagine a more appropriate place for this version.
You might also find this “musicals” version works better at a camp fire without a rhythm section, back up harmonies and secondary parts. Some Beatles purists might throw you in the camp fire for it, but maybe warn them beforehand… or let it be.
If you find my arrangement repulsive, or think it’s a derangement more than an arrangement, or maybe I was higher than Ringo when I put this together, please find a most horrible Beatles cover list online and submit my version. 🙂
The files below contain the tabs with guitar and ukulele chords, in two different paper sizes (8.5″ x 11″ letter and 11″ x 17″ tabloid). Please choose the version that’s right for you. You can also print out the letter sized version, then take it to a photocopier that should have automatic enlargement to tabloid size if you find it too small to read. That’s what happens when one tries to put these things on one sheet.
As a final note, I should mention I changed one line of the lyrics to be more “Beatlelesque” (We’d twist and shout). I also added a romantic ending rather than the same old chorus ending used in the original. You can just pen in the original lyrics if you like.
p.s. I’ve never said or heard “pussy” so much in one day in my life in recording this cause it took me a lot of takes! 🙂
