Sex with Neanderthals?

I was going to write about something else today. Honestly. Yet, after I read this BBC “Future” article on sex with Neanderthals, I couldn’t resist just writing some reaction commentary and saving my idea for today for another day. Naturally, this article contains some potentially NSFW (not safe for work) content. There’s also some mature subject matter. However, it’s not like prehistoric erotica, though the thought of it as a genre is amusing, to be sure. Nor does this post contain anything like sexual techniques, ancient or modern. And there is definitely no intercourse descriptions, but readers may be helpless to engage in such imaginings based on what they read. Rather, it’s more about weird animal sex facts that were in the article, along with other eye opening items not in the form of eye candy, but maybe i-candy, where “i” is for imagination. So that’s my warning for anyone regarding this article’s content. If you choose to read more, then that’s your fault if you hit something you don’t like. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Self-driving Cars will Be for Sex Ultimately

If you didn’t have enough time to have sex in your life, or energy at the right time, you might soon be in luck with the arrival of self-driving vehicles, or AVs for Autonomous Vehicles. If you weren’t looking for more scenarios in which you might be pressured into sex, then don’t buy one. AVs are essentially private rooms on wheels. So long as you don’t mind giving away a hint you were having sex on them with a bopping car, like the happy car during the morning or evening commute, it’s the ideal place for frequent sex outside a home. That’s not including times for when you’ll opt out of a hotel or motel room on your travels as AVs will deprive tourist accommodations of clients and income in the near future.

2015 CCHS Interactive Online Report Card

For my learning of Tableau data visualization software, I created an interactive workbook I put on the Tableau Public website with the 2015 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) public data released by Statistics Canada. It essentially translated about 47 thousand lines of aggregate survey data into a comparative report card of dots comparing health related matters among demographics of people in provinces to each other via the Canadian average for their demographic. You can extract all kinds of information and stories without having to look at one number on this thing, although if you mouseover any dot, you’ll see all the stats that come with it that was also used in making comparisons!

Would Sex with a Robot Be Infidelity?

As I venture more into artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, I will encounter a lot of issues for which there are no clear or right answers. As I learn about them, I will also think about them to formulate an opinion on each issue to form a more complete perspective of it all. I will form an opinion, even if the opinion were it doesn’t matter to me… or at least not yet.

A week ago, I came across an excellent article in the Culture section of the BBC website called Would Sex with a Robot Be Infidelity? Here is my perspective after reading it and some other articles.

Least Likely To Facebook Tagging Meme

After creating my version of the next generation of pictorial Facebook tagging meme in the Most Likely to version, the logical progression was a Least Likely To version below so this is original at the time of posting as far as I know it. While one can use this  poster in a pessimistic way towards tagging people for the future, to identify friends who would be least likely to do something, I meant it as a reflective exercise with the instructions being to tag friends who were least like to do something.

This is an exercise to acknowledge how people change in big ways we don’t expect, but that we should afford them the chance to in life, rather than blocking them in by removing their potential. I’m generally a positive kind of guy, though with a bit of a wicked sense of humour, at times, as you can see by some of my choices in the poster below. As a result, despite using the same poster as the Most Likely to version, I changed the picture text to be more general in some circumstances. We may dream or lift others to the post of president, for example, but in reality, just being a leader applies to far more of us than president, no matter what kind of president you want to consider.

Here’s how to get the new graphic for your Facebook fun:

In case you don’t recognize some of these people, they are as follows, left to right:

  • Top: Peyton Manning, Wangari Matthai, Osama bin Laden, Paris Hilton, Jet Li
  • Middle: Pamela Anderson, Bob Dylan, Oprah Winfrey, the current Dalai Lama, Sue Johannson
  • Bottom: Claudia Schiffer, Martha Stewart, Bill Gates, Anna Nicole Smith, Barack Obama

I’m too tired to put links to all these people but you can Google them, and maybe guess why I’ve put labeled each as such.
