If you were great all the time,
nobody would think you were all that great
If you were great all the time, then it’d be deemed to be so easy for you that if someone else had your same qualities, they’d be able to do the same thing. In other words, you couldn’t fail, so where’s the challenge in that? You would be widely admired, yes. They might even call you the greatest of all time. However, the feelings they’d have for you wouldn’t be the same as someone less great, but who had to struggle some of the time, overcome failures and adversity, to rise to greatness. You’d be great, but yeah, whatever. Anybody could do that given the same talents and traits. Fail and rebound, though, that’s another story!
