There is a Facebook Community (sort of like a wiki on Facebook after enough people are part of it) called the 30 Day Song Challenge, with over a million users who “Like” it! The idea is that you share a song of certain meaning to you each day on your Facebook profile. It’s a great idea, this song a day sharing thing. I’ve created a few myself earlier this year without knowing about this concept, with the 28 great love songs in February and Top 10 Bob Dylan songs leading to his 70th birthday in May 2011. Both were intended to be theme focused, though, unlike this meme that is more about variety.
However, despite being about variety, the 30 themes for the Facebook 30 Day Song Challenge were a bit too similar, repetitive, anti-climatic and dated for my liking, and also not universal enough:
Day 01 – your favorite song
Day 02 – your least favorite song
Day 03 – a song that makes you happy
Day 04 – a song that makes you sad
Day 05 – a song that reminds you of someone
Day 06 – a song that reminds you of somewhere
Day 07 – a song that reminds you of a certain event
Day 08 – a song that you know all the words to
Day 09 – a song that you can dance to
Day 10 – a song that makes you fall asleep
Day 11 – a song from your favorite band
Day 12 – a song from a band you hate
Day 13 – a song that is a guilty pleasure
Day 14 – a song that no one would expect you to love
Day 15 – a song that describes you
Day 16 – a song that you used to love but now hate
Day 17 – a song that you hear often on the radio
Day 18 – a song that you wish you heard on the radio
Day 19 – a song from your favorite album
Day 20 – a song that you listen to when you’re angry
Day 21 – a song that you listen to when you’re happy
Day 22 – a song that you listen to when you’re sad
Day 23 – a song that you want to play at your wedding
Day 24 – a song that you want to play at your funeral
Day 25 – a song that makes you laugh
Day 26 – a song that you can play on an instrument
Day 27 – a song that you wish you could play
Day 28 – a song that makes you feel guilty
Day 29 – a song from your childhood
Day 30 – your favorite song at this time last year
As a result, I made a few changes to create my version of the 30 Day Song Challenge for Facebook:

This is how I’ll do my 30 Day Song Challenge for Facebook, with an additional stipulation that no song can be picked twice. That way, I’ll share all unique songs. I’ve added a 31st song for anyone wishing to do this in a 31 day month to complete out the month, or wants a slightly bigger challenge. Variety is the spice of life so not only will it keep a more diverse set of songs on my profile, it’ll also tell my friends more about my musical tastes and myself. I’ll just identify any “second” choice songs I post, where another song might have been used, but was used or will be used later. I would say what the first choice would have been, too, of course.
Try it if you’re a variety kind of person who’s looking for a daily and/or musical Facebook meme to do for a while.
Here are the first 8 answers I gave to my 30 Day Song Challenge for Facebook.
I jut stumbled here, but your list looks great! I think I might try it!!
Leave a link or share it as a comment once you have it, if you don’t mind. Would love to know your choices. Thanks!
I’ll share it as a comment once the 30 days are up if that’s okay? 🙂
Would love it, thanks!
