Happy Metal Rat Lunar New Year 4718!

Happy Lunar New Year! It’s the Lunar Year 4718, the Year of the Rat. It’s the year of the Metal Rat more specifically, and through this link, you can find what to expect for your sign.

A word of caution, though. According to lunar astrology, when the year is your animal year, it’s NOT your year! Just ask the Denver Broncos in a certain Super Bowl the last time it was the Year of the Horse! This is in contrast to Western thinking where when something is of your identity or symbol, it’s a good omen.

Don’t say you Rats haven’t been forewarned!

Peyton Manning Joins the Denver Broncos… and Why This Guy is Glad He Did!

The Peyton Manning Sweepstakes is over! Peyton has chosen to sign with the Denver Broncos, a team with a horse mascot like the Indianapolis Colts, for whom he had played for 14 seasons. Maybe he has a thing for horsey teams. Regardless, that means I’m going to be switching favourite teams because I was only in for the Colts to follow Peyton from the University of Tennessee, where he played college football. But now that Peyton has left, I go with him.

A lot of reasons were mentioned why Peyton chose the Broncos, see story link above, but here’s why I am glad he chose them. Some of these reasons I don’t doubt he considered, though maybe as a minor factor. Others are just for me that made me happy:

The Vancouver Canucks’ 2011 Stanley Cup Winning Omen

Do you believe in signs? Signs in omens?

I certainly do, and I saw one today that has me convinced the Vancouver Canucks will win the Stanley Cup in 2011.

Look at the logos of the two teams the way they will be shown during the finals, with the home advantage team customarily on the right. What do you see?

New Horoscope Dates Explained (but will people use them?)

The 12 used zodiac constellations seen in the night sky

It’s old news, but it probably went viral this time because of social media. The dates of the zodiac used for telling horoscopes that so many people in the Western world follow are completely off! Astrology has been using a system that has been constantly changing for 3,000 years so that it’s about a month off now. But now that the world knows about it, what are people going to do about it? An explanation and some things to consider follows.

The Babylonians invented the zodiac system about 3,000 years ago. They noticed the sun passed through 13 constellations of the many they had mapped in the night sky. Passing through is a visual perspective as the Sun does not literally pass through any of the constellations. That needs another whole article if you don’t get that so I’ll pass given it doesn’t have relevance here. Yet, despite the 13 constellations the Sun looks to pass through, the Babylonians opted for 12 in creating the zodiac system we know today. Guess trisdekaphobia, the fear of the number 13, has been around for a while. The Babylonians left out Ophiuchus, with the Greek name given later to be the “serpent-bearer”, that is placed between Scorpio and Sagittarius.

Twilight and Anti-Twilight Facebook Picture Tagging Meme

Please click here for other Twilight and New Moon products, graphics and posts on this site, including:

  • Backgrounds for iPhones, Blackberries and other handhelds
  • Facebook tagging memes
  • Photo sized cards (print like regular 6″ x 4″ photo)
  • Polls (related to Twilight Saga or their actors and actresses)
  • Posters (8″ x 12″ up to 20″ x 24″, most also printable as 6″ x 4″ photos)
  • Wallpapers for monitors of many sizes

My Twilight Facebook picture tagging meme has proven quite popular, widely stolen for reposting all over the Net, stripped of its credits and plastered with advertisements for the thieves. It’s made a lot of Twilight fans happy, I’m sure, but it’s caused a lot of people pain as well… seeing how strong the anti-Twilight movement is out there. So I decided to restore the balance by creating an anti-Twilight Facebook picture tagging meme.

You can use this in several ways. You can tag your friends who are anti-Twilight fans. What might be funner is to let them tag themselves on the icon of their choice. I don’t know if there’s a maximum you can tag per picture, but if you hit a limit, can you tell me?

I don’t recommend tagging friends who are Twilight fans. It’s not nice and they can untag themselves anyway… although I left a space for the secret Twilight lover, or one who wants to subject themselves to the ridicule, just for the heck of it, but let them tag themselves, eh? Have your fun, but not at the expense of others, K?

Here’s how to get this graphic for your Facebook fun:

  • Click on the picture at the bottom to get it at full size.
  • Right click on that picture and save to your computer.
  • Upload it to your Facebook profile.
  • Tag your friends!

Please click here for a complete list of over 100 Facebook picture tagging memes on this site with which you can use for fun with your friends.

Twilight fans, you can thank a commenter named Ashley for this one. About a week ago, she urged me to make a Twilight Facebook picture tagging meme in a comment. I had to do research but thank goodness for Wikipedia to detail the characters for me. I hope you enjoy it!

Obviously, those anti-Twilight types are going to hate me for this, but hey, what can I say?

BITE ME?

That would seem “appropriate”. 😉
