I love Coke! As a guy who doesn’t drink alcohol or coffee, it servers the same role as alcohol and coffee serve in most people’s lives, though I don’t drink more than a can a day, on average. I just take it much more moderately on each occasion than people generally take any of those other fluids. I also love cosplaying (being in costume) and photographing cosplayers. That’s when I got the idea of putting all those loves of mine into a photo that could be a meme marketing campaign.
During this time, Andrew Burke came up with a cool parody campaign called Starships Start Here, where starships, space ships, science-fiction characters and the like, would be featured in Nova Scotian scenery. I found out a bit late, to be honest, but when I did, I made a bunch of contributions to it. The pics below are my contributions which have been released so far. Lululemon is a pretty popular shop these days, I don’t need to tell anybody that. Whether or not you like them, tons of people are shopping lots at Lululemon. Most of them are women, and many of them young, including their young staff. These people are supposed to be sympathetic, social conscious and Internet savvy. Yet, they shop there despite Lululemon having about as despicable a corporate history as any company out there, one that puts what Nike used to be on a level of heaven with saints. Are Lululemon’s shoppers as hypocritical as they are?
Lululemon shoppers are almost like a cult, much like Apple’s shoppers. Lululemon’s are built on yoga and all those ways of inner peace, beauty, wellness relaxation, appreciation and all. Yet, their ways are anything but that. Worse, they know it and flaunt it like it doesn’t matter. So far, it seems not to have, but can this go on?
Happy Father’s Day to my Dad, and all Dads out there except the deadbeat dads.
Yeah, you can call me judgmental, but a happy Father’s Day isn’t a right. Check with the United Nations. It’s a privilege, and deadbeat dads certainly haven’t earned it.
Anyway, I had an idea for fundraising for the cause that’s a little funny, but might just be effective.
Last weekend, the first weekend in December, there was a global campaign on Facebook where people replace their profile pictures with their favourite cartoon character/s.
I was happy to see a lot of my Facebook friends took part. It was really interesting to see what everybody chose for their characters.
Being the curious type, the two most obvious question I had were which characters were the most popular, and which were interesting?
For the most interesting, I would have to give that to my friend Dan, who chose Banana Man.
For the most popular, that’s a much harder question to answer with any confidence. I don’t have enough Facebook friends to get a statistically significant result. Fortunately, I have this site which I estimate provided about 20,000 cartoon pictures to people looking for them over the weekend. Talk about suffocating from smog from the traffic from my blog! OMG!!!
Of course, I don’t have all the comic book characters out there, but I probably have about 500, of which 250 were here. That’s a decent sample size variety for me. I also have visitors from around the world.
From stats on this website, from what I could tell, Snoopy from the Peanuts strip was the most popular character (sometimes with Charlie Brown and Woodstock so hard to separate them out.
Comic book heroine Wonder Woman was a close second.
My Melody from the Hello Kitty strip was third.
Wilma Flintsone was fourth.
Homer Simpson was fifth.
Cinnamoroll from Hello Kitty was sixth.
Catwoman was seventh.
Love-a-lot Bear from the Care Bears was eighth.
Pebbles Flintstone was ninth.
Finally, Lucky Bear from the Care Bears was tenth.
I haven’t seen any articles yet which gives a large sample size for the most popular character, but if you do, please do share.
What about among your Facebook friends? Who was the most popular character or most popular cartoon strip?
And don’t forget about the most interesting character you saw.
