Ideas to Challenge Your Hockey Loving Friends to Hurt the NHL More

So, NHL hockey is supposedly on its way back. But will the fans come back? Eventually, most will, especially in Canada. However, the fans need to make their voice heard beyond some social media campaigns like Just Drop It. It’s gotten over 21,000 Likes, which sounds great, but is really nothing. That barely fills an NHL arena, and some 11,000 came within the first week anyway. We’ll have to see how many of those fans will really live up to their pledge.

So what can the fans do to show their displeasure over this whole strike mess? Naturally, staying away and refraining from spending money on NHL related activities and merchandise is the main way. Now, no one solution is going to fit everyone, so we’re going to need a range of options. To add more incentive, I suggest turning it into a challenge among your NHL loving friends, which will benefit you all in the meanwhile! Look at some of the options below and try one of the following: Continue reading

What’s Your Biggest Resolution for 2013?

Happy New Year, everyone!

It’s that time of year again, of course, for resolutions. The secret to making them happen tends to be gradual, habitual changes that you can sustain, or improve upon, over time, rather than drastic and dramatic changes. You should also have a plan to monitor progress. It’s more in the details than concept, essentially. So with that in mind, I want to know what is your biggest resolution for 2013, and how are you realistically planning to achieve this?

If this is news to you, well, just because it’s January 1st, 2nd or whatever, doesn’t mean it’s too late to reformulate. I’ve given my resolution below, and how I intend to achieve it, as an example to illustrate my points above.

Fashion Designer Spotlight: Georges Hobeika

Georges HobeikaAs my fashion knowledge grows from my time on Pinterest, I am seeing more fashion from more designers. I am definitely developing favouritism towards a bunch of them so I thought I’d share some in case people haven’t heard of them. I’m no fashionista so it’s not like these designers are “unknown”, but some are maybe not household names yet.

This month, I discovered the work of Georges Hobeika. He is from Beirut, from where Zuhair Murad originates. That’s interesting to me because the first designer spotlight I had blogged about belonged Zuhair Murad’s. What were the odds that the first two designers I liked enough to blog about were both from Beirut? Is there something about my tastes that is common to their style?

Should People Post Songs Stuck in Their Heads on Facebook?

Happy Boxing Day, everyone! Aren’t you glad we no longer live in the Dark Ages, when people used to put on boxing gloves and fight others who got gifts they wanted but didn’t get from Santa? Villagers used to gather to watch these extravaganzas where the winner took home gifts, Instagramming photos via Twitter, not having much else to do. And that’s where Boxing Day got its name.

JUST KIDDING! There was no Instagram in the Dark Ages, of course! 😉

Something not as funny is when people post songs stuck in their heads on Facebook. It’s a good thing it doesn’t play as their friends see the status update link, but they likely know the song. If it were to get stuck in their heads as well, just a reminder of the song would do it, never mind actually hearing it. But if they haven’t heard of the song and are curious of what it is, they could be in for a nasty surprise after what may be an initial laugh that the song is stuck in someone else’s head.

So what I want to know is whether you think people should post “earworm” songs stuck in their heads on Facebook? They could be spreading their temporary insanity on to others, you know!

Take the poll below. Leave a comment. Maybe even be annoying and post a song stuck in your head right now or recently. 😉
