Are You Impressed By Super Bowl Half Time Shows Any More?

Another year, another Super Bowl and another crappy Super Bowl half-time show.

I don’t know if there’s too much hype, or that our expectations had been weened in years past to expect a lot of half time shows, but I think whoever has been setting up these things have just been making crappy decisions for several years now.

For example, was there any singing at this year’s half time show? Sure, they hit a few notes, but there wasn’t a lot of it, and what was there was weak!

Somebody get me a good half time show one of these years, would ya? Or just can it and have something stupid. At least our expectations won’t be raised and failed miserably!

That was Beyonce bad! And more of a bust than previous years, even, pun intended!

Did They Really Need Jennifer Hudson With the Sandy Hook Elementary School Choir at the Super Bowl?

It was a beautiful moment seeing those kids sing America… until Jennifer Hudson got in front of them, screamed some notes, and took the focus away from them all.

Really. Who was this about?

Bad way to ruin a nice moment otherwise!

Fashion Designer Spotlight: Alexander McQueen (and Sarah Burton)

Alexander McQueenFor January, I’m choosing to focus on some works I’ve seen a lot of lately, which is that of Alexander McQueen. However, much to my shock, in gathering profile material for this post, I found out he’s been deceased for almost 3 years (Feb 11 2010). Hey, I never said I was a fashionista up to date on all the news! I just look at some of the fashion where I find it and learn from it. Anyway, I’ve been seeing a lot of Alexander McQueen’s work done by Sarah Burton, who had taken the reins of the Alexander McQueen line. That does not mean this post has been wrongly attributed, though. A lot of what I saw of Alexander McQueen’s work which appealed to me go back before his death. There’s just also been a lot of it after his death as well.

New Orleans Saints Designer Fleece Jacket

This is the New Orleans Saints fleece jacket I just completed. A full zipper up jacket lined with anti-static Bemberg fleece so I won’t get electrocuted wearing it, and not just a fleece vest unlined like so much fleece wear you find. The project was the most inefficient and challenging I’ve taken up to date because I was trying too many new things at the same time. Continue reading

Cows in the Pasture Pillowcases!

I’ve been in an extended sewing slump for many reasons. I was on multiple vacation trips. I had serger problems (and patience not to just run out buy another one). I had garments gone bad, some eaten by a serger I thought I had fixed and some from my own pattern altering fault. However, I’m back!
