This is my go to quote any time I have doubts about doing anything with long odds. The long odds are like the lottery, but I won’t succeed or get what I want if I don’t try, which is akin to playing the lottery. If you don’t play, i.e. spend money to buy tickets or however you play, you have zero chance of winning. That’s less than whatever the long odds may be, even if sometimes not by much.
