Recently, I taught myself how to create a simple glove pattern that could turned into a double layered glove easily. I’ll blog more on that when I have the process documented better. The double layer glove means you can do a few things with it:
Use the two layers together for warmth, excess warmth if you use two warming layers like both of fleece.
Use the outer layer for design for whatever you have that you can use on the outside, like crazy spandex or stretch material (non-stretch possible but not recommended for excess stress on seams).
Here, I used some silver snake / lizard / crocodile / alligator skin spandex I had purchased in Manhattan some years ago and the result is pretty cool, in my opinion. Under a coat sleeve, it looks like I have silver lizard skin! Combined with the GATORSNAKE running tights made a few years ago from the same spandex, and a tuque to come, I might well be a vampire hunting, silver skinned lizard of a runner this winter!
I’ve been on a new quest to draft and make a proper fitting dress shirt for myself. I’ve also been sewing less as resolved for 2014, with some time off allowed for myself at the end of 2013 and early 2014 to set up some other resolutions. That’s why I haven’t finished any new garments until now.
So after having made a good fitting body suit in my NIGHTWING Running Body Suit, I started creating pieces that could be made from it as separate garments. What can you make from a body suit? Well, plenty!
This was supposed to have been a prototype for my winter Matrix coat, for fit. However, I got what I wanted out of it part way through, fitting the top properly, so I improvised some design to it rather than the all black Matrix coat. Next thing I knew, I got a coat I couldn’t let go and ended up with what I call my vampire hunting jacket for its strategically placed silver highlights, by which vampires would be repelled.
Is it me, or every time that I see US ice dance skater Meryl Davis, I think that the Avatar animators stole her looks for the Na’vi creatures in the movie?

Sure looks like a little nose job, war paint and dreadlocks could have made Meryl the sister of Neyteri! The TV pictures are even better, and I wish Neyteri would have smiled for a picture or two! But maybe if Meryl had shown up in the crazy blue jump suits worn by Ukrainian pairs skaters Tatiana Volosozhar and Stanislav Morozov at these same Olympics, it might have convinced you!

Hey, isn’t there a gala show or something after the competition is over? Meryl should maybe come out in that get up and a little blue face paint! She and skating partner Charlie White could do an Avatar epic!
Or maybe do one for the World Championship in Turin next month? Probably too soon but certainly not for next winter! I think they’d have the crowd behind them!
But listen, Meryl, Avatar made a ton of money! There’s no reason a little of it couldn’t be yours! I think you’ve got a great case they stole your beauty for those creatures in that mega-hit movie!
Maybe even better, ask for a starring role in the sequel! When the avatar comes out into the real world!
And takes up ice dancing! No, just kidding! 🙂
Congrats on the silver medal at the ice dance in the Olympics, Meryl and Charlie.
Fantastic show, but Virtue & Moir were just a tad better.
