The National Basketball Association (NBA) had its first Nickname Game last night (Fri Jan 10 2014) between the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets. It is a great marketing tool, with controversy in fan reaction and no clear future for direction. I thought I’d suggest options for a policy that might be used for nickname jerseys, not just in the NBA but also in other professional sports leagues.
So, NHL hockey is supposedly on its way back. But will the fans come back? Eventually, most will, especially in Canada. However, the fans need to make their voice heard beyond some social media campaigns like Just Drop It. It’s gotten over 21,000 Likes, which sounds great, but is really nothing. For the die-hard Canuckleheads, here are some backgrounds for your iPhone, Blackberry, Palm or HTC smart phones. It’ll work for other cell phones as well, if they use the same background sizes as the ones here. The sizes, with horizontal dimension first, include:
- 320 x 480 pixels (for iPhones)
- 480 x 320 pixels (for Blackberry Bold 9000s, Palm Pre and some HTC models)
- 480 x 360 pixels (for most Blackberries and some HTC models)
- 480 x 640 pixels (for some HTC models)
There must be some people in Vancouver who support the Canucks and have an iPhone, Blackberry, Palm or HTC, right?
