Jeremy Lin is the current sports sensation with his meteoric rise out of nowhere to be a star with the New York Knicks. In just a week, he has gone from Asian representation to Asian sensation in the NBA. His Taiwanese last name, Lin, has been great for creating a whole new vocabulary around him and what he has done. Long Lion Dance at Vietnamese Buddhist Center in Houston
This was a Lion Dance over 20 minutes long that I captured at the Vietnamese Buddhist Centre in Houston, on January 22nd, 2012, just before midnight to usher in Chinese New Year.
Lion Dance and Firecrackers at the Hong Kong Market in Houston for Chinese New Year
I was recently in Houston, Texas, to enjoy the Chinese New Year full on given the large Southeast Asian community there. This was a lion dance video I captured with my GoPro Cam while I was there on January 28th. Their magician quarterback, Peyton Manning, was sidelined for the first time in his career with a neck injury that was going to keep him out for the season, or enough of it to keep the Colts from even getting to the playoffs to have a chance to play a Super Bowl in front of their fans.
Unfortunately, Fate was in a foul mood towards Indy for some reason and did not stop there. Continue reading
