My Sewing Patterns from Wild Ginger Fashion Design Software

At the Atlantic Sewing Guild meeting tonight, our President gave a nice talk on downloading patterns online for printing out and using. I’ve been learning Wild Ginger software for a few months now, albeit not in as dedicated a manner as I should be due to sewing “distractions”. I thought I’d share a few patterns I generated for comparison, or viewing if you’re a reader who likely wasn’t at our Sewing Guild meeting.

Silver Screen Facebook Picture Tagging Meme

NEW!

Audrey Hepburn

Sample avatar of Audrey Hepburn (actual size)

Click here to see the video I made with these and similar images to 1940s crooner Margaret Whiting singing The Lies of Handsome Men.

And click here to get avatars and buddy icons of the 20 silver screen stars you see here, plus 8 more I did not use to create the collage below!

This is an old skool style Facebook tagging meme where it’s just pictures you tag and attribute whatever to them you choose to, not a new style version where there’s a more direct message. However, I just realized that just about everything that’s been created has been for the younger generation. While it’s true the younger generations do dominate the Internet usage, and Facebook, that was no reason to not create something for our elders.

Here’s how to get the picture:

  • Click on the picture below to get it at full size.
  • Right click on that picture and save to your computer.
  • Upload it to your Facebook profile.
  • Tag your friends (or let them tag themselves).
  • Click the Back button on your browser to return to this post.

I read somewhere that the elders were the largest growing age demographic of Internet users, in part because it was an effective way to keep up with their grandchildren and/or children. Intuitively accurate, if you ask me, as there’s a lot of motivation to be found in being involved in the lives of grandchildren, especially if you have a lot of time on your hands. Still, the elder demographic fall behind the averages. Check out the Forrester Research’s Groundswell Blog Social Technographics profiles to confirm. Pick the 55+ age category for any country and see how the blue bars tend to fall short of the thin white vertical line average for every participating category of Internet users.

Apr 14 update: CNN confirmed what I said above in its All in the Facebook family story on Apr 13.

Those Social Technographics further revealed the 55+ users to be very unlikely to be Joiners or users who maintain social networking profiles, i.e. Facebook users. But as said above, that was no reason to avoid creating something for them. So here is a collection of classic movie stars from the silver screen, when the silver screen still looked silver. They are beautiful portraits which I personally see no reason why the younger generation couldn’t use themselves and learn something of our treasured past. Heck, they sure look better to me than a lot of the movie star picture these days!

Special credits goes to Dr Macro’s High Quality Movie Scans site for many of the portraits used in the Facebook tagging picture above. Beautiful galleries and lots of great info!

By the way, what’s the big deal with Bette Davis’ eyes, like mentioned in Kim Carnes’ song? [ Lyrics ]

Have you seen Lauren Bacall’s eyes? Them’s first degree murder!

Lauren is not in the Facebook tagging meme because she is still living. Yeah, those eyes will even keep Death away!

Family Guy, Disney and Penguins Facebook Tagging Meme Pictures

Please check out the 73 Penguins avatars and buddy icons created from the Penguins Facebook picture tagging memes below!

Here are some more Facebook tagging meme pictures I haven’t been able to find anywhere else easily, so I’ve put them on my blog. I created the Family Guy version, with relatively few characters compared to others I created thus far. However, I was only able to find graphics of those 8 characters with white backgrounds and that’s enough work to assemble them, label them and such for me on one post. It’s for the Family Guy fans, which I don’t think are quite at the level of the other meme themes (see links below), but I’ll let the download stats speak for themselves. It’s also for people who don’t have time to tag 25 people, or daring ones who not only have their family as friends, particular Parents, but will also tag them! This is also the first time I created a pictorial Facebook meme with personality traits rather than straight character names.

The other two meme pictures here are Disney characters and Penguins (somebody need to enlighten me on the cartoon franchise from which they came). The first penguins version I created. The others I only slightly optimized ratios and edited out one extreme expletive that was simply gratuitous, and it wasn’t even funny. I’m glad someone did the personality labeling for Disney characters because I sure didn’t want to try. I had thought about a Disney set but passed it up due to too many characters without prominent distinguishing personality traits. As for the Penguins set, not knowing anything about it really, it’s just included. Here’s how you get any of these graphics for Facebook:

  • Click on the picture below to get it at full size.
  • Right click on that picture and save to your computer.
  • Upload it to your Facebook profile.
  • Tag your friends (or let them tag themselves).

Pokemon and Other Japanese Cartoon Facebook Picture Tagging Memes

I did not create these three Facebook picture tagging memes, but I did improve their quality and optimization for Facebook usage. I do not know from where they come so there is no source link. These memes involve Japanese cartoons, but not the anime type that has people in them. These are Pokemon and some other cartoon brand with which I am not familiar.

To use any of these for your Facebook tagging fun:

  • Click on the picture to get it at full size.
  • Right click on that picture and save to your computer.
  • Upload it to your Facebook profile.
  • Tag your friends!

Silver Screen Star Avatars, Icons and Profile Pics for Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Other Sites

These avatars and buddy icons are of movie stars of an era gone by. They are square, at 128 x 128 pixels each, and should be usable for many, if not most applications allowing avatars and buddy icons. These can be used for Facebook profile pics, but it’s a bit on the small side for it.

These graphics came from the original files I collected in making the Silver Screen Facebook tagging poster, with some additional pics not used. To get the icons, please:
