A nudge in behavioral economics is a small suggestion and/or behaviour reinforcement designed to help people make better choices, if not coined, then certainly popularized by Richard Thaler and Cass Sunstein in their book of the same name. McDonald’s is fast food I should eat less of, but given Warren Buffett and Bill Gates eat there regularly, too, my brain is making excuses to stop. Recently, I put nudge and McDonald’s together for an idea that could save the company money, and improve the lives of millions with the volume McDonald’s serves… and it even resembles something McDonald’s has done before!

McBuddha, Fooda Buddha, or McFooda Buddha
He’s the most static eater I’ve ever seen, at least of McDonald’s meals with a hamburger, fries, and drink. I had previously referred to him as the food Buddhist on a few posts about regulars whose paths I cross in my frequented places. However, as those, like this one, was “warm-up” writing, not a lot of thought went into every detail. While observing him today at another chance path crossing, I thought up a few alternatives I liked better, and wondered which I should apply going forward in my mind, as I don’t anticipate writing about him again.
Get Your French Fries Without Salt
I’m no health nut, but I do little things here and there to help my diet be better than it could be. One little thing I’ve recently done is to get my French fries without salt. I ask for it all the time, whether or not there is salt with the fries I get, just to be sure I get fries without salt.
