Very Easy DIY Wheel or Ringed Buttons

While looking for buttons today, I was once again dissatisfied with the selection seen in the local fabric store. I think I’ve ruined things for myself by having visited Fashion Districts in New York and Los Angeles that the local stores in small city Halifax will never be able to satisfy me again. However, an idea popped into my head and I was able to walk away with some useful, as well as unique, buttons! Well, that is until someone exactly copies this idea. 🙂

Shopping for Fabric in New York’s Chinatown

When in New York, especially the Manhattan borough that a lot of people associate with the image of New York, sewist and fashionistas instantly gravitate to the Fashion/Garment district for fabrics and sewing related needs. I did that last time and reviewed them here. However, with image also comes price, like a brand name commands it even if the quality is no better, or worse, than another equivalent product. This is why you head outside the Fashion/Garment District for some deals, though that’s not to say there’s nothing good for quality and selection diversity there. I would actually recommend checking out some of these shops first, if you had the time. It would give you a good idea what’s available at what price, before visiting the Fashion/Garment District, if you have any concern about price when purchasing your fabrics and notions.

Buttons, Notions and Sewing Accessories in New York

If you sew or have an interest in fabrics, you probably want to visit the Fashion/Garment District in Manhattan while you’re in New York to see and maybe buy some great fabrics. If you live in a smaller city, you would definitely want to do this because the selection is incredible. I had already reviewed some fabric shops, but what I want to focus on here is notions and accessories for your sewing that you should also check out while in New York. This is the more interesting stuff to get, as far as I’m concerned, because you’re likely to be able to find more diversity from what you have access to in notions and accessories, comparied fabrics, in your area.

My LINCOLN Vampire Hunting Jacket

This was supposed to have been a prototype for my winter Matrix coat, for fit. However, I got what I wanted out of it part way through, fitting the top properly, so I improvised some design to it rather than the all black Matrix coat. Next thing I knew, I got a coat I couldn’t let go and ended up with what I call my vampire hunting jacket for its strategically placed silver highlights, by which vampires would be repelled.

Twilight and Anti-Twilight Facebook Picture Tagging Meme

Please click here for other Twilight and New Moon products, graphics and posts on this site, including:

  • Backgrounds for iPhones, Blackberries and other handhelds
  • Facebook tagging memes
  • Photo sized cards (print like regular 6″ x 4″ photo)
  • Polls (related to Twilight Saga or their actors and actresses)
  • Posters (8″ x 12″ up to 20″ x 24″, most also printable as 6″ x 4″ photos)
  • Wallpapers for monitors of many sizes

My Twilight Facebook picture tagging meme has proven quite popular, widely stolen for reposting all over the Net, stripped of its credits and plastered with advertisements for the thieves. It’s made a lot of Twilight fans happy, I’m sure, but it’s caused a lot of people pain as well… seeing how strong the anti-Twilight movement is out there. So I decided to restore the balance by creating an anti-Twilight Facebook picture tagging meme.

You can use this in several ways. You can tag your friends who are anti-Twilight fans. What might be funner is to let them tag themselves on the icon of their choice. I don’t know if there’s a maximum you can tag per picture, but if you hit a limit, can you tell me?

I don’t recommend tagging friends who are Twilight fans. It’s not nice and they can untag themselves anyway… although I left a space for the secret Twilight lover, or one who wants to subject themselves to the ridicule, just for the heck of it, but let them tag themselves, eh? Have your fun, but not at the expense of others, K?

Here’s how to get this graphic for your Facebook fun:

  • Click on the picture at the bottom to get it at full size.
  • Right click on that picture and save to your computer.
  • Upload it to your Facebook profile.
  • Tag your friends!

Twilight fans, you can thank a commenter named Ashley for this one. About a week ago, she urged me to make a Twilight Facebook picture tagging meme in a comment. I had to do research but thank goodness for Wikipedia to detail the characters for me. I hope you enjoy it!

Obviously, those anti-Twilight types are going to hate me for this, but hey, what can I say?

BITE ME?

That would seem “appropriate”. 😉
