Recently, I was in Manhattan and took the opportunity to visit the Spandex World store on West 38th, between 7th and 8th Avenue in the Fashion/Garment District, that specialized in spandex. Here was my experience for when you go visit them, or in case you want to check them out and order from them online.
77 Star Trek Facebook Timeline Cover Photos
Below are 77 Star Trek Facebook Timeline Cover Photos. They were made from my collection of Star Trek wallpapers for various monitor sizes, mostly involving star ships rather than characters. Not all those wallpapers were suitable for the elongated Facebook Timeline Cover photo format so only some are here, but most of them worked. These are 1700 x 630 pixels, or twice as long and wide as Facebook says is necessary, in order to make sure they display well on widescreen monitors. Why Can’t Game Ending Official Rulings Be Reversed?
On Monday night, the NFL replacement officials made a terrible call that robbed the Green Bay Packers of a victory, and gave the Seattle Seahawks one, on the final play of the game. Watch the video through the link and judge for yourself, if you have not seen it. The NFL has tried to support this decision, but I doubt anybody but Seattle fans and their team are buying it.
Back in June, 2010, American League umpire Jim Joyce made a wrong call on the final out of a Indians – Tigers game that robbed Detroit pitcher Armando Galarraga of a perfect game. To be fair, Jim Joyce publicly apologized, but he should have pushed major league baseball to reverse the ruling given it had no external impact like game outcome or playoff race, or different outcome the way it was allowed to play out.
Both of these were potentially game ending rulings if done right. That is, what came after would not have mattered. There were no “what ifs” had the rulings been changed, like a mid-game ruling where there were lots to still play for and anything might still have happened.
So why can’t they be reversed and the correct results be placed in the record books?
Country Style Somewhere Over the Rainbow, by Ian Tyson
I’ve heard the famous song, (Somewhere) Over the Rainbow, in many, many styles, but not country… until today. I found out about this very moving rendition by Canadian country legend, Ian Tyson, via a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation series called Rainbow Battle pitting different renditions against one another. Ian’s performance completely took me by surprise and entranced me, I must say! Have a listen!
My First Renderings with Rhino 3D for 3D Printing
A few months ago, I first heard of 3D printers that were “affordable”. That is, in the couple of thousand dollar range and that someone I knew had one, a Makerbot Replicator. It has spurred me to learn Rhino 3D to create things to be able to put the printer to use. These are my first renderings, a Klingon logo Christmas ornament I would just spray paint chrome to hang from a tree. I plan to have more complicated renderings, eventually leading to armor costumes, in the next 12 months or so.
