Cheering for Patriots this Super Bowl Cause They’re from a Democrat State

New England Patriots

New England Patriots

Super Bowl LI is tomorrow as I write this. The New England Patriots are in it against the Atlanta Falcons. Generally, I hate all things Patriots, having been a Peyton Manning fan for about two decades since he was in collage. I’m also not a fan of cheaters, never mind repeat cheaters. However, I’ve recently decided there are some things worse than the New England Patriots, and that includes those with no regards for people, their rights and who are hypocrites to everything they say and try and force upon others. That would be those supporting whoever that guy is in the White House who thinks he runs the world and is above the law.

In 8-11, the most recent US election, Georgia voted Republican and Massachusetts voted Democrat. As a result, I’m going to put my pride aside and support the team I’ve hated so much over the years. Seriously, it’s just football. A little cheating ain’t right but it’s just a minor part of life. This whole other political thing, that messes things for everybody, even those who don’t live under that umbrella like me in Ca-na Land.

This Super Bowl, I’m going to be supporting the New England Patriots instead of the Atlanta Falcons cause the Patriots play in a Democrat state. I realize the city of Atlanta voted Democrat, and that Matty Ice played at Boston College in Massachusetts. However, I’m looking at the bigger picture which is what so many Republican supporters fail to see.

Now, this is just a harmless action and it’s just for fun. I’m not going to be too miffed if the Patriots lose, let’s just say it that way. But for the small sake of picking a team to support that isn’t of much interest to me, political lines is the critical factor on which I’m going to make my decision this year.

No more people from Republican states in the White House! (re winning team visit)

GO PATRIOTS! (swallows pride) 😉

Why Do We Need Groundhogs When We Also Cast Shadows?

For this Groundhog Day, I ask this question.

Why do we need groundhogs when we also cast shadows?

Moment of enlightenment… when you step outside on February 2nd, you will be able to get the same results as a groundhog for predicting an early spring or long winter!

Better yet, you’d get a localized results for where you are, not wherever that groundhog people around you watching. Localization is SO important in weather forecasts considering how weather can be rather different only miles away pending the terrain of an area, that why would you want to get a forecast from tens or hundreds of miles away?

Just make sure you interpret the results of your shadow, or lack thereof correctly. That, as it turns out, is the opposite of what people interpret from the groundhog since they’re right only 37% of the time in the past 30 years. Interpreting things the other way will get you a 63% correct rate. That may not sound great but it’s better than what many people get in school and tests who out there doing all kinds of jobs and practicing all kinds of trades that impact you and I! It’s probably better than the forecast you usually get. And it’s DEFINITELY better than 37% the groundhog gets!

Groundhogs Only Right 37% of the Time, So Reverse Interpretation of their Results!

Another Groundhog Day has passed. With this year comes news of a study by Environment Canada that over the past 30 years (CBC story), groundhogs have only been correct 37% of the time in terms of being able to predict an early spring or long winter based on whether or not they see their shadows. For something that is a dichotomy like a coin flip, if you were wrong more than half the time, then flipping the interpretation of the outcomes means you’d be right more than half of the time! With that logic, I propose we reverse the interpretation of results whether or not they see their shadow.

The NEW results should be if the groundhog sees his/her shadow, it’ll be an early spring, and a long winter otherwise!

Donald Trump Bans Arabic Numbers Citing Bad Influence!

trumpvDonald Trump signed an Executive Order today to ban the use of all Arabic numbers in American media and schools! Those numbers would be numbers the ones you and I know, with the digits 0 to 9. I can write them cause I’m in Canada, out of reach of his madness.

But yes. The Donald has banned all use of Arabic numbers, citing bad influence by Arabic culture on Americans. From now on, everything numerical will have to be displayed in Roman numerals, like the V representing Arabic number 5 that the Trumpster is demonstrating in the picture at right, cause it’s superior since it was invented by a culture that was mostly white, even though they weren’t mostly Christian. However, they had some features useful for his propaganda so he used them hoping the people would be stupid enough to believe it like they have believed so many other things he has said so far.

A Story about Teacher Working Conditions

Teacher unions are constantly in contract negotiations around much of the world these days as contracts are constantly expiring and needing renewal in one place or another. Some of these can drag on and/or get rather unpleasant in nature. We are in the middle of a negotiation situation where I live. Some incorrectly perceive I’m not in a position to comment without being in conflict of interest despite having my individual rights of free speech, but I’m not here to discuss that. I don’t want that to be a distraction here, nor this to be the hill they die on. Instead, I’m here to share a familial story on teacher working conditions for perspective and documentation of stories not otherwise preserved beyond oral retelling in the family.
