Ho Chi Minh City Roundabout Traffic

A little video I captured while visiting Ho Chi Minh City in Viet Nam last month. This is a video of the traffic there at a rotary or roundabout, where people just weaved in front and through each other like a weaving machine. No accidents. No road rage. Really makes me wonder how North Americans get into so many accidents, especially when there are far fewer cars on the road (rather than when there are many), or hit pedestrians or cyclists on empty roads… and don’t even get me started on the road rage thing over nothing!

I might end up showing blograge! 🙂

XQ Hand Embroidery of Viet Nam

Recently, I was in Da Lat, Viet Nam, where my Paternal relatives wanted to take me to see some embroidery place, as they casually put it. They knew I liked sewing and fashion so they probably thought I could appreciate the embroidery work done by these people.

Well, what I saw completely blew my mind. Even if you don’t like embroidery, this was spectacular work! It was all hand embroidery, with some having millions of stitches!

Leonard Nimoy Dead at 83. Should I Be Sad?

I just heard that Leonard Nimoy, Spock of Star Trek fame among other things, had passed away at 83 (NY Times).

I am very, very sad upon hearing this. Spock was the first TV character I remembered as a child, even if I knew no English. Those pointed ears and that firm, noble look, as well as calmness of the character, endeared me to him.

It would be ironic to be sad about Mr Nimoy’s death considering the generally emotionally controlled Vulcan character with which I associate with him as one. But sad I am. Actually, I’m feeling something far worse than sadness could convey, though I will try to control it. This is going to be a long, drawn out, sadness, though, because he is synonymous with Star Trek to me so Star Trek will never be the same again. I will always think of him any time I see, hear or think of Star Trek.

As I struggle for what to write regarding Mr Nimoy’s death, a quote from Kirk in Star Trek II, the Wrath of Khan, that is among my favourite movies, seems appropriate.

“Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most… human.”

Rest in peace, Leonard Nimoy. Your soul and spirit will live and prosper forever.

Wrestler Booker T Suspected in Digging of Rexhall Centre Tunnel

Booker T Rexhall PlaceA mysterious tunnel was recently discovered near a Pan Am Games venue called Rexhall Centre in York, Ontario (CBC). The tunnel was a fair sized structure, measuring 1.93 metres high, 86.4 centimetres wide and 10.1 metres long — with a secondary hole that held a generator.

Toronto Police are puzzled by the presence of the tunnel as well as its purpose. They also have no idea as to who might have done it.

Tonight, though, Digital Citizen has learned through unnamed sources that the famous wrestler named Booker T has been identified a prime suspect.

The reason?

Who goes around repeatedly asking people in public

“Can you dig it, sucka?”

Apparently, it was all just a ruse to find someone to dig this tunnel for whatever reason/s Booker T or some associate of his had. Stay tuned to find out! 🙂

[Disclaimer: This article is meant for humorous purposes. There is no truth to the claim of suspicion and Booker T, though it is true he does go around sporting that question like he has tunnel verbage.]
