Obama Ahead of 80% of Brackets After 2 Rounds in 2016 March Madness

After two rounds in the first weekend of 2016 March Madness, President Obama’s Barackets is ahead of 80% of other brackets submitted to ESPN’s pool online. The POTUS has 430 points. He has only lost Michigan State and West Virginia that he had predicted to go far, but so has the vast majority of other people. Michigan State was the second most popular pick to go to the National Championship Game besides #1 overall Kansas. The Prez still has a lot of potential points to gain (1120 to be exact), but that’s only potential. It still has to be realized, of course.

Me, I’m sitting at 460 points, ahead of 94% of the brackets on ESPN. My advantage over the President coming out of the first day where I was a perfect 16/16. It was only the first day, but it was really exciting to have a perfect first day! Even better coming out of the gates being tied at the top of the leader board for what I estimate to be about 12 million entries. I also have Michigan State and West Virginia busted like the President, as his 1120 potential points remaining. However, our remaining picks differ enough the final outcome could be a massive difference in our comparative end results… not the least due to the scoring system where each round is worth 320 points so that the right/wrong winner could cost the other one 320 points. He has Kansas to win it all, hoping for third time lucky as his previous two Kansas picks had blown it big. I have North Carolina for whom I’ve cheered for decades. 🙂

Nobody has a perfect bracket in either the ESPN or CBS pool this year, by the way, with all the upsets.

Looking to Beat Obama 7-1 During 8 Years of March Madness

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama

I’ve just put in my ESPN March Madness Brackets for 2016.

2016 March Madness Challenge – ESPN – Digitalcitizen

President Obama has put in his Barackets.

I am 6 wins versus just 1 loss versus the POTUS during his Oval Office March Madness campaigns. Here’s hoping to finish strong at 7 and 1, with the North Carolina Tar Heels winning it all! 🙂

It’s been a fun filled eight years, Mr President. I’m so glad you decided to add this on to your presidential duties! It won’t be the same next year, even if you submit a celebrity pick. Good luck… though you know I only mean that in a limited capacity, right? 🙂

Introversion / Extraversion Assessment from Scientific American on Excel

introversion extraversion assessmentOn June 9th, 2014, the Scientific American blog Beautiful Minds had a rather in-depth article called Will the Real Introverts Please Stand Up? about what introversion really meant (and extraversion as the opposite). The term is still highly misunderstood, whether from generic social definitions, or more precise and complex definitions through the works of Myers-Briggs and others following.

In the Beautiful Minds article, they had a 20 question quiz written out. Some score adjustments were then required after you answered, followed by averaging your newly adjusted scores, and averaging two halves of your score if you wanted more information. In this post with an Excel spreadsheet attachment below, I have made this test a lot easier to take. You just answer the questions and flip through the process to see your results! There is a minor summary of your results, but you’d then go back to the original article linked above for the full details.

Cool and Affordable Laser Cut Miniature Metal Models

I just saw these on a site by Canadian hardware store Lee Valley, of all places! They are by Metal Earth. There are all kinds of themes for their models, and they are all pretty cool! At Lee Valley, they are about $8-$15 Canadian apiece. I see online, like at Amazon, they are sometimes a lot more. However, you’re getting ripped off in such a case, likely, if Lee Valley can sell them at those prices as a middleman. The only reason you might pay a bit more is if some store you know doesn’t carry a particular model, since there are so many! But I’d just get it directly from their site if I were you. There is substantial shipping outside of the US, though, so bulk it up on an order to get the most out of your standard shipping rates.

A Valentine’s Day Toy Photoshoot

I got an idea for a photoshoot today with some small toys and fabric fragments I had around. The results are below, linked from my toy Instagram account, Ode to Toy.

These were taken with an iPhone, in my living room, as my digital SLR is in for sensor cleaning after years of use and getting dirty. I must say I am quite happy with the results. These square photos are all well over 2000 pixels in each dimension in their original files! The iPhone was able to capture small objects (about 2 inches high) from up close, in very vivid detail without blurring out much! It’s going to see a lot more use from me in the future! 🙂
