PORT HAWKESBURY, NS
Design F2
Mirror of Mulgrave 2
Only the colour arrangement differentiates this design from Design F1. Here, I didn’t care to represent the land as lush green. Rather, I opted for better colour contrast and balance overall compared to Design C1 with white to represent the land in this geographic flag design (Ted Kaye’s term) with the waters of the Canso Strait on the hoist.
There will be no equivalent to the B series for the Mulgrave flag designs from late October because that was a “star” concept whereby the four directions of the star were each made from the letter M with the two peaks pointing in the direction. Port Hawkesbury has no claim to an M in its name to be using that design.
Finally, in the description for Design F1, I talked about potential good relations required between Port Hawkesbury and Mulgrave to have matching flags, in a way. But what if they were not and Port Hawkesbury decided to get a matching flag anyway given it’s a nice and crisp design? Given I’m proposing these designs and hold the copyright until adoption by a municipality to be a flag for the people, I would simply not release it for Port Hawkesbury’s use if Mulgrave were to adopt a version I created for them. Mulgrave was the first municipality to take me up on my project to design flags for NS municipalities without one, and I initially got the idea designing a flag for them, so that’s why I would give them first chance to adopt such a design. Only with their consent, if they adopted their version of the C series of designs, would I let Port Hawkesbury use my concepts for them because I’m not doing this project to stir up negative relations!
