I’ll Be Going Electric on May 17th (guitar talk)

I’ve never had an electric guitar.

Too bulky and noisy with amp. Too quiet without. A bit heavy, though very nice to minimize callouses and get cool sound effects.

Somewhat recent changes in technology and recent affordability in that technology will allow me to get Bluetooth capability with an electric guitar, for noise cancelling headphones and/or Bluetooth wireless mini-speaker with some decent volume.

As a result, I’ve resolved to go electric this year with my guitar playing, mostly for songwriting and playing music. I’m very far from a true guitarist!

By chance, 2016 is the 50th anniversary year of Bob Dylan going electric at the Manchester Free Trade Hall concert. Bob had gone electric before, in Newport in 1965. However, this concert was the one that changed folk music as it was known at the time, forever.

That infamous concert happened on May 17th, 1966. With Bob Dylan being my favourite songwriter by a long shot, I will follow in his footsteps to go electric myself on May 17th of this year.

May 17th this year is going to be my Go Electric Day! #goelectricday
