My Amazing Spider-Man Beach Towel Bath Robe

This bath robe was made from 3 beach towels. Oddly, I could only find the beach towel on the back online to be able to share with you. I got it at Zellers in Canada, but they don’t have it online. The other two beach towels I got at Wal-mart in Canada. However, you can find all kinds of other, some better, Spiderman beach towels from which to make a similar garment:

FLOWER Dress: Vogue V1047 Dress Pattern Wasn’t Vogue Enough for Me

Last winter, I was involved in a sewing and fashion challenge with the Atlantic Sewing Guild. Lots of people brought in fabrics from their stash to contribute. A couple of people bundled them together in some way that didn’t quite go together well, to create the challenge with that bundle. Different weights, odd colours, no colour, small pieces, etc. were among the challenges with each bundle. Participants then drew numbers to determine order to “draft” a bundle, and then it was up to everyone to make something from their bundle. Here’s what I started and ended up with.

GOLDEN Top and MONOTONE Purse: A New Look at New Look Pattern 6435

Last Christmas, I made my Mother a custom fit Chinese style jacket from New Look pattern 6435. The pattern was easy enough, but I was using a heavier fabric with embroidery that resembled Chinese brocade, but wasn’t. I was only starting out and couldn’t afford to make mistakes costly by investing in expensive fabrics. Because of this slightly heavier fabric, I lined the pattern to make it wear comfortably. This was for Mom, after all!

In lining the jacket, I basically threw out the pattern instructions. I don’t follow instructions well, anyway. Continue reading
