Canada’s Most Up to Date, Interactive Public Health Report Card (CCHS 2016, 2015)

I recently updated my 2015 Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS) Tableau dashboards which showed results in an interactive report card format, with 2016 data. WordPress does not allow JavaScript usage for me to embed those report cards, to explain how they worked and what information you could gather from them far faster, and more effectively, than just from data tables. However, I was able to do it on another site through the link below.

Interactive Public Health Report Cards for CCHS 2015 and 2016, on Tableau Public

If you view it and have any questions or feedback, please leave them there so the discussions can be in one place as much as possible.

The combined year results, with much more granular geographic results, will be explained soon, but are already posted here if you want to look ahead of time. Thank you.

How Marathon Results Could, and Maybe Should, Be Shown

I recently took a typical online set of marathon results in a table, from the 2016 Mount Desert Island marathon, and turned it into an interactive display and analysis here. I’d embed it to show you but I can’t use JavaScript embedding on WordPress.

How Running Race Results Could Be Presented

Race results are often given in tables of data that are none too interesting, and a little hard to do much with for anyone wanting to know some things from it not given as part of the results. I recently did some visualization and analysis with some traditional running race results, on Tableau Public software as a self-learning exercise, to show how running race results could be presented in a feasible manner of a few hours’ work now that a model has been created. I’d show it here except I’m not able to use JavaScript on WordPress to embed it. However, you can see what I mean through these links.

List of 267 Celebrity Deaths in 2016 by Date, with Bio and Age

2016-celebrity-death-count

Update: 267 now with M*A*S*H* star William Christopher passing away on Dec 31 of cancer at the age of 84.

This is one of the most comprehensive lists found online, within reason of who counts as a celebrity. This list is fairly comprehensive because I had compiled it from a half a dozen fairly comprehensive lists from major sources like NBC, the BBC and so on. My list also has brief bios, death dates (in chronological order) and age at death. There are a few hours left in 2016 where I live but I’m not going to wait till 2017 to post this. I’ll just make any additions needed when I find out, or if you tell me about it.

Sad as this list is to see, you should have enjoyed 2016 for celebrity deaths while you could have. It’ll only get worse due to how many more people we can know these days compared to way back when there was no social media, Internet or even television! See full reasons here. CNN says it wasn’t the worst year by some high threshold of “celebrity”, that was edged out by 2006, but you can judge for yourself. 2016 might not have been worst but it certainly felt that way due to social media… which is exactly what I was talking about. Just on media and the dawning of the Internet, though, I foresaw this in 1995 as noted in this poem.

So who’s going to be the first celebrity to die in 2017?
