Proposed Flag for League City, TX – Design B3

LEAGUE CITY, TX (USA)
Design B3
Metaphorical geographic nesting with star in shield

A variation of Design B2, where, instead of the fragile and impermanent leaf within the shield, a star so common in American and Texan city flags represents League City. A lone star, to be specific, like that on the Texas and Houston flags related to League City for the geographic associations. A star on the shield is also something that could boldly extend to the City’s branding beyond the flag, like to badges law enforcement officers could wear. Those considerations are way beyond anything I would know enough of to seriously give input on, but I wanted to point out the potential. It also makes for a very striking and memorable flag that would be one of my two favourites among designs I submitted.

REFERENCE
League City, Texas, is a city of about 112,000 in the southeast corner of the Greater Houston metropolis. The city has four founding families, but the League name came from J.C. League who developed the city along then existing railways. Over the years, trees have proven important to the city, with oak trees from 1907 lining Main Street, the city seal containing an oak tree, and the recent 60th anniversary of incorporation using an oak tree leaf. The city has several flags recently (last pic), all with more than just white and variations of green for colours that is on their website and recent branding.

    • Thank you for your feedback, Karen. I’m not sure which you meant for Designs 2 or 4 as I didn’t number the designs that way. However, I can tell you League City has decided to go in a different direction. Which direction, ultimately, should be known by February, at which time I will update on this blog.
