I came across this beautiful and dynamic trailer today, for a movie called Cloud Atlas based on the novel of the same name.
Not having been much of a fiction reader, I had no idea about the prominence of the Cloud Atlas novel from back in 2004. However, just the moving music, philosophical monologues and a little eye candy of past and future special effects has completely gotten me hooked. It also helped a lot that some of my favourite actors and actresses, and other high profile ones, are in the cast to help with the acting that is key in a movie, of course. I can count Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant, Halle Berry and Susan Sarandon among them. The racial diversity with other actors and actresses is also cool, though not important to me as a factor on its own but rather as a sort of “bonus”. Finally, it is a directing collaboration among Tom Tykwer (“Run Lola Run“), Andy Wachowski and his now-sister Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry, who as brothers directed The Matrix Trilogy.
I can’t wait till this movie comes out on October 26! That is in spite of the plot involving six stories going back and forth, told in different methods, promising the viewer will possibly have to bring all of his/her intelligence to understand the film!
