That’s what I do in these Star Trek pajamas I designed with cuffs and epaulettes, and pant pockets, even!

Breaking Tie Myths with my First Tie
I sewed my first tie today, and for it, I balked all the traditional conventions of tie-making cause they made no sense to me. With my finished product, they still don’t.
1701 Tuque (double layered fleece)
This was the third tuque I made from my recently designed and fitted one piece double layered tuque pattern shown below. The ability to put something larger than a panel on the tuque is why you’d want to really use this pattern, as well as better durability, compared to the multiple panel patterns you usually find out there. Here, I grabbed some portraits of The Original Series Star Trek Enterprise crew from a cotton print, and appliquéd them onto the flat fleece before sewing together to form a shaped tuque.
TREK Long Tennis Shorts
This Star Trek original series cotton pattern was probably made for pajamas, but they work well for tennis shorts… and some pretty interesting tennis shorts at that. 🙂
Pride Parade Edition of Star Trek TNG Uniform
Each summer in recent years, I have participated in parades with Hal-Con, Halifax’s sci-fi,fantasy & gaming convention run completely by much-too-dedicated volunteers. One of these parades is our Pride Parade, and I always come up with some special edition cosplay for it.
A few years back, I got the idea for a pink Star Trek: The Next Generation uniform, with each pip representing a colour in the rainbow flag. I made the buttons large so it would be visible from a little far away, given this was a parade and not intimate convention settings where people are constantly close to you to see the details. I did it despite not having a neck big enough fo hold them all on the front right side. And while six pips is more than the Star Trek rank and file would allow, I believe, let me make it clear the six was not meant as superiority. I just couldn’t go around choosing 4 of the 6 colours on the flag, ya know???
My idea wasn’t executed in the best of fashion a few years back, but I got a better version this time around. Fortunately for me, a professional photographer name Shaun Simpson in Halifax was able to get a couple of great shots of it. Even more fortunately, I didn’t look bad in the photos, either. Thanks so much, Shaun! Check out the fabulous entire album Shaun got of the Pride Parade and associated events to see how fun things were this year!
I should find out how I can get this to George Takei so he can see it. I wonder if he would approve. 🙂
