Will Republicans Jump on Obama’s Barackets as Being Symbolic of His Presidency?

Obama came into office like a champ. Don’t start with the trash talk yet. He won the Presidency and you can’t be saying that about anybody else so keep the lid on the trash can for now.

Obama also opened his Barackets campaign picking the ultimate champ, North Carolina, and beat about 90% of all ESPN brackets in 2009.

Fast forward to 2016. It’s been a rough ride in the middle for his March Madness picks. Thrice he has picked Kansas to go all the way, and thrice they have failed him, including Saturday night. He has also failed to pick the correct winner in any other year, if I’m not mistaken. And Mashable shows him to be fairly “average” in his track record.

Kansas’ loss to Villanova Saturday night left the President in just the 47th percentile, meaning 53% of the 12 million brackets entered on ESPN were doing better than him. Worse for him, things will likely only get worse because the one team he has remaining, North Carolina, is the most popular pick remaining, and he doesn’t have them going all the way as 1 in 7 people do. Half the brackets have UNC winning Sunday as does Obama. In other words, lots of people still have other teams remaining in their pool that the President doesn’t, and they can make ground on him, whereas UNC that he has remaining, lots of people also have so he won’t be making grounds on that many. Pending how things turn out, the POTUS could still finish in the upper half of all brackets, but that’s about the best as he’ll do this year. More likely, he’ll tailspin to a crash on his final Barackets submission.

OK, Republicans. Now you can spout your nonsense, as if this has anything to do with how he did in office. 🙂

March Madness 2016 R3half

One person Obama won’t be beating is me, though. I picked Villanova to beat Kansas tonight in my bracket entry, also in the graphic above. I also have UNC going further than da Prez so anything he gains from UNC, I will also gain. He cannot mathematically catch me, in other words, and it’s only half way through the Elite 8 round! I’m also sitting in the top 0.5%, by the way, just for bragging rights while I can in case my brackets crash and burn in the future. 🙂

I will finish 7-1 against Obama during his 8 years of Barackets submission. I was expecting better competition than that, I have to admit. However, I hope Obama will continue to submit his Barackets after he’s out of the Oval Office.

Obama is about hope, right?

Maybe his luck will change for the better then. 🙂

He can only hope so. 🙂

Looking to Beat Obama 7-1 During 8 Years of March Madness

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama

I’ve just put in my ESPN March Madness Brackets for 2016.

2016 March Madness Challenge – ESPN – Digitalcitizen

President Obama has put in his Barackets.

I am 6 wins versus just 1 loss versus the POTUS during his Oval Office March Madness campaigns. Here’s hoping to finish strong at 7 and 1, with the North Carolina Tar Heels winning it all! 🙂

It’s been a fun filled eight years, Mr President. I’m so glad you decided to add this on to your presidential duties! It won’t be the same next year, even if you submit a celebrity pick. Good luck… though you know I only mean that in a limited capacity, right? 🙂

President Obama’s Barackets Done Before Final 4… And I’ve Beaten Him Again!

There’s still one game left before the 2014 NCAA March Madness Final Four, and President Obama’s Barackets is already done! With Michigan State going out to the Cinderella-ish UConn Huskies, da Prez’s Barackets has no potential points left. He still has Florida in place, but he had Michigan State beating them in the national semi-finals so he has no points left.

It now only remains to be seen how many behind him still have some teams left who can get points. After the Michigan state game, the President is still ahead of 74.7% of entries on ESPN’s Tournament Challenge. That lead is the only thing the President still has going for him to salvage some sort of decent final placement, which he may still get depending on who wins from now on. Only 0.4% of brackets had UConn getting more points, 5.7% had Wisconsin, 2.1% had Kentucky, but 15.4% still has Michigan to get more points, and 41.1% still has Florida to get more points. So the President can still finish respectfully, to completely tank!

My ESPN Brackets

I’m in not much better shape with only Florida remaining. However, I am ahead of the President… and I have Florida to win it all so if they do, I can really smoke the President, and many others. Unfortunately, UConn was the last team who beat Florida so that should be some rematch! UConn is playing better than they did then, and it only remains to be seen if Florida has improved as much. Mathematically, though, I have beaten the President and that is 5/6 years now. 🙂

I am currently ahead of 87.7% of brackets on ESPN. But by having Florida, if you look at the math above of teams remaining still able to get points, take out the Florida part and I’m going to finish at least at a respectable level. Yay!

President Obama’s Barackets Busted After Sweet 16

After the Sweet 16 that saw a lot of people’s NCAA March Madness brackets busted a bit more with popular Louisville going down to Kentucky, President Obama’s Barackets’ can finally be declared busted. The President had picked Louisville to be in the national championship game so he has lost a lot of potential points to come. He is still ahead of 78.2% of entries, but it remains to be seen how many ahead of him picked Louisville to go so far. About 28% picked Louisville to reach the Final Four, which won’t happen for them, and 9.4% picked Louisville to be in national championship game. The thing we don’t know is how many are ahead or behind the Prez to determine how much he may or may not slide due to that bad pick.

I, too, had picked Louisville to get to the Final Four, but not to the national championship game. That’s a potential 160 points I can still pick up on the President if Arizona can get to the national championship game. My brackets are getting busted, too, but I’m still ahead of 93.3% of entrants at this point. The thing is, one game wrong now can wipe that lead away easily.

Onward to the Elite 8!

Obama’s Barackets Still in Top 8% of Entries After Day 2

After Day 2, President Obama’s Barackets are slightly busted like the majority of entries. However, they’re still plenty good to be ahead or tied with 91.8% of entries after Day 2. That tie includes my entry. However, I have a slight probability edge among points remaining in that I didn’t lose a team slotted to make it to the Elite 8, like the POTUS did with Duke.

President Obama’s Barackets

All this so far is great for having lots of teams left, and higher probability that you can get the remaining games right if it were a straight lottery (i.e. more tickets than others). However, it isn’t a straight lottery, and the stakes now double per game in the next few days in the Round of 32, at 20 points per game instead of 10 for the Round of 64. So things can go up or down hill REAL fast!

Let’s get it on!
