This is a cute feature by 23andMe’s genotyping result, to convert one’s DNA results into a short little 8 second tune. Easy enough to blog about, too.
How does it work?
The DRAPERY Dress Shirt (Draft)
Still being finicky to tweak my dress shirt pattern for the ideal fit and look I want, I am not sure at which point I would have that ideal final pattern. Any given dress shirt draft could end up being the one, and it would be a waste of time to throw out because I had made it from crappy fabric in my stash. But at the same time, I didn’t want to dig much into my good stash, with most of it having been bought in New York or Los Angeles because interesting fabric I’d wear is really hard to come by in Halifax. As a result, I produced this aptly named dress shirt where I used old curtains I had while living in Vancouver in the late 1990s!
Let’s Have a RUN FOR OBESITY to Cure the Disease!
The American Medical Association has just voted to classify obesity as a “disease”.
Wow. That’s just wrong. I thought doctors were supposed to be smart.
I know obesity is being treated like an epidemic, so the expression goes, but that’s only because it’s big in numbers. There’s nothing very epidemic about it medically. You can involuntarily spread it. You can’t involuntarily catch it. You sure as heck can influence those around you to be overweight if you are, but it’s still a choice most people make. There are some, I realize, that have weight gain as a medical condition from conditions with their body, but those are rare in the group making obesity to be considered an epidemic. I’m not talking about those people. I’m talking about the regular ones who just make bad choices and don’t have enough motivation and discipline to keep from being obese. That’s the real disease, if you ask me.
NIGHTWING Running Body Suit / Cosplay
When I found out Wild Ginger fashion design software had a pattern choice for a body suit, I was so stoked! Being a geek and nerd, you can just imagine how many cosplays I have at my disposal being able to make body suits. I can even make some for girls! However, it was the practical thought of having superhero body suits to run in that was most appealing to me! Why run around in boring running clothes, and not great ones at that for a little 5’2″ 108 lb guy like me, when you can do it in a chic superhero outfit? I’ve had the same thing running clothes for about 15 years cause it’s so hard to find stuff that fits, or can be tailored properly to avoid causing chafing or wardrobe malfunctions. Besides, the streets could use a little livening up if superheroes and villains were running around them.
