Options Instead of the Extra Point for the NFL and CFL

In North American football, the extra point is a single point short kick after a 6 point touchdown to give the full 7 point value a touchdown can give a team. The full 7 points also makes the touchdown more valuable than two field goals, at 3 points each, in not only concept but also score. Otherwise, the extra point is also a second chance to cheer loudly for the touchdown just scored if it were your team to have done so.

Once upon a time, the extra point used to require an actual effort so it was not a sure thing by any means. However, these days, it has a success rate of over 99% according to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick. It has become too easy for the players playing to execute it that it not only becomes boring, it’s also a waste of time. Sports Illustrated’s Peter King feels the same way about it, calling it “the biggest waste of time in sports”. Nothing in sports should be that automatic, basically. What kind of competition is there if the outcome was the same more than 99% of the time?

Should People Post Songs Stuck in Their Heads on Facebook?

Happy Boxing Day, everyone! Aren’t you glad we no longer live in the Dark Ages, when people used to put on boxing gloves and fight others who got gifts they wanted but didn’t get from Santa? Villagers used to gather to watch these extravaganzas where the winner took home gifts, Instagramming photos via Twitter, not having much else to do. And that’s where Boxing Day got its name.

JUST KIDDING! There was no Instagram in the Dark Ages, of course! 😉

Something not as funny is when people post songs stuck in their heads on Facebook. It’s a good thing it doesn’t play as their friends see the status update link, but they likely know the song. If it were to get stuck in their heads as well, just a reminder of the song would do it, never mind actually hearing it. But if they haven’t heard of the song and are curious of what it is, they could be in for a nasty surprise after what may be an initial laugh that the song is stuck in someone else’s head.

So what I want to know is whether you think people should post “earworm” songs stuck in their heads on Facebook? They could be spreading their temporary insanity on to others, you know!

Take the poll below. Leave a comment. Maybe even be annoying and post a song stuck in your head right now or recently. 😉

Whiskey Head Woman (1939 Delta Blues by Tommy McClennan)

I am able to do a lot of things where I am able to leave on my large collection of oldies music to listen to. When I say oldies, I mean oldies, like 1930s and 1940s. Every now and then, while I’m toiling away, something will come on that will stop me dead in my tracks to listen and enjoy. I absolutely LOVE those moments, and there’s no shortage of them, I assure you, because there’s a LOT of great oldies music!

The latest discovery for me is this gem, Whisky Head Woman, by Tommy McClennan, that is 1939 Delta Blues. Listen to the song and see the full lyrics below.

South Park, Doodle Friends and Other Facebook Tagging Memes

I saw these tagging meme graphics on Facebook, but they weren’t in the best formats for Facebook so I improved them in various ways to share. The second is Doodle Friends characters, from where I do not know other than that they are part of a Facebook application.

The final one are just some personalities attached to a drawing style I do not know.
