Each summer in recent years, I have participated in parades with Hal-Con, Halifax’s sci-fi,fantasy & gaming convention run completely by much-too-dedicated volunteers. One of these parades is our Pride Parade, and I always come up with some special edition cosplay for it.

A few years back, I got the idea for a pink Star Trek: The Next Generation uniform, with each pip representing a colour in the rainbow flag. I made the buttons large so it would be visible from a little far away, given this was a parade and not intimate convention settings where people are constantly close to you to see the details. I did it despite not having a neck big enough fo hold them all on the front right side. And while six pips is more than the Star Trek rank and file would allow, I believe, let me make it clear the six was not meant as superiority. I just couldn’t go around choosing 4 of the 6 colours on the flag, ya know???

My idea wasn’t executed in the best of fashion a few years back, but I got a better version this time around. Fortunately for me, a professional photographer name Shaun Simpson in Halifax was able to get a couple of great shots of it. Even more fortunately, I didn’t look bad in the photos, either.
