How do YOU Physically Measure Up to Canadians?

I just created an interactive dashboard with distributions of the Canadian population physical health measurements like standing and sitting height, weight, BMI, waist, hip and waist hip ratio, by gender and age group demographics, as measured and released by the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS). More than just averages, there are percentile distributions of 5, 10, 25, 50 (median), 75, 90 and 95, so you can see roughly what portions of the populations are more or less than you in those measurements. More details are in the post with the link because I can’t post the dashboard here with JavaScript not being allowed on WordPress.

See how you stack up, or put in average values from different jurisdictions, like country, state, country bloc, etc. and see how they compare to Canadians!

Hoth Chocolate Meme

I saw this meme about going to Tim Horton’s in a Canadian snowstorm, that is the part above the black bar, during the snowstorm brewing outside. I immediately thought of a pun reply that i put in the black bar to make a new version. Enjoy! 🙂

MAPLE Mittens and CANADIAN Winter Gift Set

canadiana-gift-setI recently devised my own way to make double layered mittens where all the seams are on the inside after inversion. The double layer also allowed one for show on the outside, like with spandex of many funky patterns, and one for warmth on the inside like with generic fleece, or both of fleece for warmth. I did the latter and added a matching double layered tuque I also devised my own way of doing with similar principles, to make a “Canadian” winter gift set for a friend who happens to have the same head and hand size as me. Very convenient!

The Sign (a short story contest submission)

In 2015, I entered all the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) literary prize contests as part of my effort to get writing back into my life. I didn’t win anything, but that’s OK. The competition was immense for both quality and quantity. This is my entry for the Short Story contest (link to winners), which is now over and I can share my entry. It’s my first ever science-fiction story. I hope you’ll enjoy it. 🙂

Great Odds of Canadian Internet Breaking Tonight?

Welcome to election night in Canada! For a decade, Canada and the world has been putting up with the sad collective lack of intelligence of Canadians to have voted in Stephen Harper. It is Stephen with a ph, right? That’s how little I care about him. And I apologize on behalf of my fellow Canadians with the stupid vote all these years.

There is no doubt we want Harper out. It’s just a matter of having enough people vote for one party to put him out rather than leave him with the biggest minority.

No matter what happens, the Canadian Internet has a good chance of breaking tonight either with the euphoria of having Harper kicked out, or fury of having Harper staying where he is, no matter under what electoral conditions.

So my question is does the Canadian Internet have a better chance of breaking tonight if Harper gets kicked out, or back in?
