President Obama’s Barackets Busted After Sweet 16

After the Sweet 16 that saw a lot of people’s NCAA March Madness brackets busted a bit more with popular Louisville going down to Kentucky, President Obama’s Barackets’ can finally be declared busted. The President had picked Louisville to be in the national championship game so he has lost a lot of potential points to come. He is still ahead of 78.2% of entries, but it remains to be seen how many ahead of him picked Louisville to go so far. About 28% picked Louisville to reach the Final Four, which won’t happen for them, and 9.4% picked Louisville to be in national championship game. The thing we don’t know is how many are ahead or behind the Prez to determine how much he may or may not slide due to that bad pick.

I, too, had picked Louisville to get to the Final Four, but not to the national championship game. That’s a potential 160 points I can still pick up on the President if Arizona can get to the national championship game. My brackets are getting busted, too, but I’m still ahead of 93.3% of entrants at this point. The thing is, one game wrong now can wipe that lead away easily.

Onward to the Elite 8!

Obama’s Barackets Had a Bad Day 4, But Still Doing “Well”

Day 4 saw President Obama’s ESPN March Madness 2014 Barackets fall from a percentile in the 90s to 73.7 as ranked teams fell. That said, it’s only a matter of a game or two’s difference that made the fall seem a lot bigger than it actually was.

President Obama’s Barackets

My Brackets ended up in a tie with the POTUS after Day 4 by not having as bad a day as Obama’s Barackets. However, it’s all going to come down to who picked the eventual winner to decide this, given how much that is worth. I went with overall #1 ranked Florida, while Obama went with sentimental favourite Michigan State. I have an edge in the meanwhile with only 2 Elite 8 teams eliminated to Obama’s three, but that may only resolve things if neither Florida nor Michigan State wins.

Breather for now. Getting back to quotes and fashion posts for a few days. 🙂

Obama’s Barackets Not Nearly as Busted as Most People’s After Day 3

After Day 3 of the NCAA March Madness tournament, not counting the play ins that don’t contribute toward the ESPN brackets, President Barack Obama’s Barackets are a bit busted like most people’s. He did have Duke, and he didn’t have Dayton or Connecticut, being the big upsets so far, but most other people seemed to be in the same boat. The POTUS, in fact, made slight gains, from Day 2, now being in the 92.1 percentile of all entries.

My brackets, sadly, is only in the 71.2 percentile now. However, just like the parody that exists in college basketball, that also seems to be the case among bracket entries. I’m only one second game behind da Prez. And if that says anything, one game’s difference from here on in could mean a huge difference. So let’s see who really cracks first.

Obama’s Barackets Still in Top 8% of Entries After Day 2

After Day 2, President Obama’s Barackets are slightly busted like the majority of entries. However, they’re still plenty good to be ahead or tied with 91.8% of entries after Day 2. That tie includes my entry. However, I have a slight probability edge among points remaining in that I didn’t lose a team slotted to make it to the Elite 8, like the POTUS did with Duke.

All this so far is great for having lots of teams left, and higher probability that you can get the remaining games right if it were a straight lottery (i.e. more tickets than others). However, it isn’t a straight lottery, and the stakes now double per game in the next few days in the Round of 32, at 20 points per game instead of 10 for the Round of 64. So things can go up or down hill REAL fast!

Let’s get it on!

Obama’s Barackets Walloping the Rest After Day 1

It’s only Day 1, but the President’s Barackets is ahead of 98.2% of entries in ESPN’s March Madness Tournament Challenge! President Obama only got two games wrong, though one was Ohio State that he also picked to on to the Sweet 16 so he won’t be getting that game right. He picked some sweet upsets, though, like North Dakota State over Oklahoma that was the first true upset of this tournament given the other “upsets” were teams known to have fairly competitive squads. Someone said North Dakota State was the “best team nobody knows about”, and they at least proved that in one game. We’ll see how well they do the rest of the way.

The POTUS is beating me for now, but for now is the key part of that phrase. I am a mere one game behind, but still ahead of 90.4% of the entries. I also have one team picked to go to the Sweet 16 that’s not going, Oklahoma. Obama has been analyzed to pick well in the first round, especially for upsets, but a little more suspect in the latter rounds, though not that suspect given he usually does pretty well to still beat the majority of entries.

Bring on Day 2!
