What to Do with Your Canadian Pennies Now That They are No Longer Minted

The last Canadian penny was minted today. So what can you do with your Canadian pennies from now on? Well, that depends on what year you have pennies from due to composition changes and historical values. Here are a few thoughts.

Jogging Extends Life Expectancy for Men by 6.2 Years and Women by 5.6 Years?

That’s what the Copenhagen City Heart Study would tell you! And that’s no small fad study, either! It’s been ongoing since 1976, with the first set of data collected between 1976 and 1978, the second from 1981 to 1983, the third from 1991 to 1994, and the fourth from 2001 to 2003. The study followed 20,000 men and women of all different ages, between 20 and 90. Among them were 1,116 male joggers and 762 female joggers. Further, this study has been cited in over 750 scientific papers!

The Ella Mae Morse Songs That Taught Elvis How to Sing

I just heard the song 40 Cups of Coffee by Ella Mae Morse. While looking it up, I found stories of how Elvis Presley once told her that “she” had taught him how to sing, from her records that he listened to when he was young! That’s quite the compliment to be getting, if you ask me!

If you listen to some of the songs Ella was famous for recording, though, before Elvis came along, you could definitely hear the style and elements of Elvis’ famous recordings. So enjoy the two I did fine below and see if you can see how she influenced Elvis!

The 2012 NFL draft is tonight. Players will be drafted out of school. Players will be traded for positions and picks. Players will be kept or let go to free agency pending who gets picked up. It all generates a huge amount of hype, no matter which sports draft you’re talking about. And that got me thinking… what would that be like in the work force?

Dupont PHB71 Hybrid Rice in Viet Nam Ad

Recently, DuPont posted the advertisement below for its PHB71 Hybrid Rice grown in Viet Nam. Hybrid rice is cross-breeding of rice strains, not genetically modified as in artificially modifying them. Think of cross-breeding dogs and genetically created dogs, if you want to better understand the difference. We do the former all the time. The latter is a bit more expensive and sketchy… and probably illegal in many countries.

What I found amazing was how these Vietnamese farmers grew rice in the paddies in one season, then harvested shrimp in the same paddies in another! Talk about making use of the land!
