Apple Blossom above Battlements
DESCRIPTION
“An apple blossom is centered in the sky above a fimbriated, green battlement formed from 13 horizontal segments, of which 6 are indented at a golden ratio to the width.”
REFERENCES
The apple blossom represents the town, its people, and the Apple Blossom festival for which the town is known. The battlement reflects the Main Street station rooftop resembling a castle, and also symbolizing the railway hub the town used to be. The battlement is green to match the Town colours on the flag, with the green symbolizing the lush Annapolis Valley where Kentville is located, and the blue also representing the river running into town. The battlement segmentation of 13 and 6 (ominous numbers) references Kentville’s past name as the Devil’s Half Acre, while the golden ratio sides counterbalances that with a divine feature. Please note: Kentville revealed it had a flag with its Town crest after I had designed these.
This is a personal project I have been doing for a year, not an effort by the municipality or its citizens.
