INVERNESS COUNTY, NS

Musical coast
Inverness County has some spectacular scenery with its highlands area that rise steeply from the ocean. With the highlands being a lush green except for some of its cliff edges, I turned the green area of the extended logo in Design C3 into such a coastline landscape of three simply rendered “mountains” of the highlands variety, rather than true mountains in a mountain range. Against one of the mountains are the musical notes in the logo. Behind the mountains is the sky of the branding’s alternate blue, and below the mountains is the extension of the sea in the logo. From my consultations on the Nova Scotia sub-Reddit, this design was, by far, the favourite choice by numbers and supportive comments (meaning it wasn’t the best of a bad batch of designs).

REFERENCE
Inverness County, Nova Scotia, is one of four counties on the island of Cape Breton. It has a population of about 17,000 in a land area of 3817 sq km (1474 sq miles). The county is known for its three main things. The first is its Scottish/Gaelic heritage, with some Acadian history in villages such as Cheticamp, and Irish influence. The second is its beautiful scenery of the Cape Breton highlands, often bordering the ocean with scenic cliffs, look offs, and drives. Finally, it has a strong musical scene and reputation of fiddling, Scottish, and Irish music and dancing. For these reasons, it was branded as “Canada’s musical coast”, with a logo to match.
