NVERNESS COUNTY, NS
Design C2
Partially extended logo
Another design treatment of a logo on a flag that I like is to close crop the logo a bit like in Design C1, then move it to the hoist half that is most often seen, then extend the logo to the rest of the flag. That’s partly what I did here because there was two portions of the logo to extend, the waves and the green background to the music notes, and I only extended the waves. It does leave the logo background looking a bit like a sun, if only I had left the natural logo shape on the hoist side. However, I not only found it distracting, but a green sun made no visual sense so I left the flag section to the right of the white trim on that side of the logo white.

REFERENCE
Inverness County, Nova Scotia, is one of four counties on the island of Cape Breton. It has a population of about 17,000 in a land area of 3817 sq km (1474 sq miles). The county is known for its three main things. The first is its Scottish/Gaelic heritage, with some Acadian history in villages such as Cheticamp, and Irish influence. The second is its beautiful scenery of the Cape Breton highlands, often bordering the ocean with scenic cliffs, look offs, and drives. Finally, it has a strong musical scene and reputation of fiddling, Scottish, and Irish music and dancing. For these reasons, it was branded as “Canada’s musical coast”, with a logo to match.
