Design 3A
Fractal blueberry and maple leaf
Going in a modern direction with Series 3, I started off with a close cropped blueberry with which I was able to create a fractal design that can be shrunk or expanded indefinitely. That’s because where the plant joins the blueberry, as the blueberry hangs before being picked, is rendered with a blue circle just like the blueberry itself. In that sense, it could become another blueberry on a different scale, with the other designs in the blueberry replicated at its scale to get a full mini blueberry, with where the branch joins it being the start spot for the next scaled down blueberry, infinitely so. The same geometry could also be expanded infinitely going backwards from the procedure described. As for the Canadian reference, that was done via a little maple leaf near the less important side of the fly. It only provides context for the blueberry, so it is smaller than the blueberry for its reduced significance.

REFERENCE
Oxford, Nova Scotia, is a town 10.68 sq km (4.12 sq mi) in size, with about 1,200 people. Despite this small size and population, it is the world’s largest processor and distributor of individually quick frozen (IQF) wild blueberries! This is because it is centred in a large blueberry growing region, with Oxford Frozen Foods Ltd., a wild blueberry processor owned by local businessman John Bragg, processing up to three million pounds of berries a day during peak season! John owns the plant and over 12,000 acres of blueberry land in the area, with another 15,700 acres in the Acadian region of northern New Brunswick added in 2014. The town was founded in 1792, with the “Oxford” name derived from the shallow river that was used to enter the town, rather than having anything to do with Oxford in England. Early settlers used oxen to cross, or “ford”, the river, and thus derived the town’s Oxford name.
