Proposed Flag for Mahone Bay – Designs 7C and 6D

MAHONE BAY, NS
7C and 6D new Round 2 designs with more colour, with churches (top) and without religious references (bottom)

In response to suggestions to add more colours to the flag ideas to evoke the spirit and colours of Mahone Bay, I came with these two lozenge field designs where the areas bordering each lozenge edge was in a different colour like some bright colours of homes around town, with the colours also having meanings to the area like sea, lush land, fall festivals, and wealth. In the design with the churches and reflections, the edge colours needed to be faded so the centre colours could “pop” more. However, the the version without religious references, that black schooner and red Mi’kmaq star were striking enough on white that full intensity colours could be displayed outside the lozenge. The Mi’kmaq star in red like its dual role as a sun. That star is actually a sun symbolizing unity. Its full colours are black (west), white (north), yellow (east), and red (south), but I had seen it depicted in one colour like here, or one colour with black outline.

REFERENCE
Mahone Bay is a small town of about 1000 residents on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. It is a picturesque tourism destination, especially the iconic three churches along the waterfront of the bay itself, though there are five churches in the town! It has a historic boat/ship building heritage, with more transport and industrial ships in the past, and more pleasure crafts in the present, from all materials but especially wood historically. It is also a current haven for entrepreneurs and business startups growing its population.
