Proposed Flag for Mahone Bay – Design 5E

MAHONE BAY, NS
5B third top choice Round 1 (top)
5E First Nations representation variant (bottom)

In response to suggestions for First Nations representation in my flag ideas for Mahone Bay, I added the Mi’kmaq star that is a sun symbolizing unity. Its full colours are black (west), white (north), yellow (east), and red (south), but I had seen it depicted in one colour like here, or one colour with black outline. There was not room to jam it into Design 5B at top, so I swapped it out with the shipbuilding and sailing reference schooner. This gave it a prime position of respect, with more prominence in red that is one of its actual colours, while still leaving the triangular pennant for a sailing reference.

REFERENCE
Mahone Bay is a small town of about 1000 residents on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. It is a picturesque tourism destination, especially the iconic three churches along the waterfront of the bay itself, though there are five churches in the town! It has a historic boat/ship building heritage, with more transport and industrial ships in the past, and more pleasure crafts in the present, from all materials but especially wood historically. It is also a current haven for entrepreneurs and business startups growing its population.
