Proposed Flag for Mahone Bay – Design 5a

MAHONE BAY, NS (Canada)
Design 5a
One Triangle

Combining objectives of previous design concepts to display symbols in addition to the 3 iconic churches, I went to an extended triangle field where the flag is divided into 3 sections: a flag height triangle with horizontal reflection symmetry butted against the hoist, and 2 symmetrical sections created by dividing the remaining area with a horizontal line from the tip of the hoist triangle not touching the hoist side, extended out to the fly edge. These 2 sections effectively gave the flag a section like a horizontal bicolour of the Design 1 series, as well as Design 2a with the more realistic churches rather than the diamond abstractions in the 1 series. Meanwhile, in the triangle that points to that 3 churches logo, I put a schooner there to represent the historic and current boat building history that is probably the next biggest thing for which Mahone Bay is known after the 3 churches. The purple was chosen for an artsy feel of the town, and rare colour combination in the space while maintaining high contrast.

Constructive criticisms welcomed. Thank you.

REFERENCE
Mahone Bay is a small town of about 1000 residents on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. It is a picturesque tourism destination, especially the iconic three churches along the waterfront of the bay itself, though there are five churches in the town! It has a historic boat/ship building heritage, with more transport and industrial ships in the past, and more pleasure crafts in the present, from all materials but especially wood historically. It is also a current haven for entrepreneurs and business startups growing its population.
