Five Churches Logo
From the gorgeous Design 2b to this cluttered and slightly grotesque design done to address the fact Mahone Bay has 5 churches, not 3 like in the logo, for a town of about 1000. That means a lot of people don’t have their churches represented, even though their churches aren’t part of the iconic image Mahone Bay is known for. This is the “brand expansion” version to include 5 churches, with 2 in land and without reflection in the water as a result, in case Town Council were not willing to give up the branding,. Now, a flag need not show everything about the entity it represents, just “signal” enough about what the entity is about and/or wants to project, as well respected vexillologist Ted Kaye says. I completely agree and use that to help focus my designs. I just don’t know what town residents, especially in those other two churches, think of “signalling” of their town with only 3 of the 5 churches. As for rendering of the churches added, they had colours that were most distinct and high contrasting from any other colours already present. The whole thing looks quite jaggy and the lack of reflection may be interpreted poorly, as vampires don’t have reflections, but let’s see if anyone likes it.
Constructive criticisms welcomed. Thank you.
REFERENCE
Mahone Bay is a small town of about 1000 residents on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. It is a picturesque tourism destination, especially the iconic three churches along the waterfront of the bay itself, though there are five churches in the town! It has a historic boat/ship building heritage, with more transport and industrial ships in the past, and more pleasure crafts in the present, from all materials but especially wood historically. It is also a current haven for entrepreneurs and business startups growing its population.
