Finalist Flag 1 for Kentville, NS

KENTVILLE, NS
Finalist 1
The People’s Flag bid

Instead of showing the Instagram post where this design was shown, I will show it AND the TikTok post that encompassed the Instagram post with the same features, without need for the user to scroll, and added some music. I have chosen the same music for all finalists in a given set so as not to have the music influence the designs differently. The Instagram post is at the end if you preferred to see some information for different amounts of time than the TikTok post. Progression in my presentation! I have also gone back to update the finalist flag posts for Middleton to show the same thing.

A Nice, but Bias Inducing, Flag Presentation

This was my first attempt at a new format to show finalist flag designs in my Nova Scotia Municipalities flag project. Middleton, NS, the People’s Flag version is shown here. While I think the presentation is nice, it would work better for showing things for purposes of information only, not for decision making. That’s because of the accompanying music. It might make the animation and text to read more interesting for the senses to include sound, the music itself could influence how one feels about what is seen given the power of music on human beings. Using the same music would be rather boring, and it might still be influential because not all designs are meant to evoke the same feelings, so the music would then be more appropriate for some than others, creating a dissimilar effect rather than the same one despite it being the same music. So while I didn’t use it, I kept it for future presentations to be made for information only… like after a flag gets adopted and is shown to “the world”.

I will keep some of the visual aspects of the presentation, though, to show finalist flag designs in Phase 2 of my NS Municipalities flag project.
