Broadway Joe Namath’s New Guarantee

Broadway Joe Namath, famous for his Super Bowl III guarantee to beat the Colts as big underdogs with the NY Jets in 1969, can make another guarantee after a premature coin toss to open Super Bowl XLVIII.

He can guarantee a blunder any time he appears in a prime time football game. 🙂

Why Has NFL Football Remain America’s #1 Sport?

On this biggest sports day of the year, the Super Bowl, I pondered why NFL football remains America’s #1 sport.

NFL football became America’s #1 sport through a variety of complex, interwoven and additive reasons as analyzed here in the Bleacher Report. The reasons why it has remained so, and only widened the gap, are a little different, in my opinion. NFL Draft Style Pro Bowl Reactions, Anyone?

  • There were lots of great hits and hard plays, not just half efforts you see in some other years.
  • Also tons of interesting dynamics of teammates versus each other, doling out some pretty awesome hits, no less.
  • Great two minute drills at the end of every quarter, including the last one down to the last second that saw Jerry Rice’s team beat Deion Sanders’ team 22-21 in a two point convert and missed field goal all in the past two minutes.

I LOVED IT!!! Did you?
