A Second TikTok Surprise

After a TikTok I made in January documenting some waves crashing through the Halifax Waterfront boardwalk unexpectedly received over ten thousand views (currently approaching 50k), I got another surprise with another damage documentation after a snow storm. This one has surpassed 110k views!

@iamtiktoktan

Halifax waterfront damage survey during this storm at about 2 pm. However long they intended for this boardwalk to last in building it, it ain’t going to last that long because they built it so low and badly overlooked or maybe neglected climate change impacts as the evidence clearly shows. This was just a typical storm! #halifax #waterfront #storm #blizzard #damage #novascotia

The views are definitely a shock to the system, for sure, but I haven’t gotten addicted to the dopamine from all the views, Likes, and such. After a certain amount, it’s just a nice case of “whatever”. It even becomes annoying that as I post new content that they don’t get much love of any sort, lol, where all the Likes and such I get are on that past content. I wouldn’t mind it if I could filter out all that viewership and engagement until I would like to see it since the last time, rather than seeing bits and pieces of it every time I open up the app. I never enabled push through notification for TikTok, if you don’t believe how I’m not keen on the dopamine from social media, and only direct message for other platforms because some friends prefer to communicate that way, often with short notice messages so I can’t afford to never look at them until I care to.

Still, it’s an interesting experience to get, waking up to over a thousand Likes after a day of not checking in, a whole whack of new followers I don’t know, and still getting lots of Likes for something almost  a month after posting it! I know it’s an experience so many users crave for, so I should enjoy it and not complain, and definitely not brag about it!
