Vietnamese Farmers’ Market in Michoud, Louisiana

The video clip below is not meant to be an edited video. Rather, it is just a little glimpse of a little Vietnamese “Farmers” Market in Michoud, Lousiana, part of the Ninth Ward of New Orleans so badly devastated by Hurricane Katrina. I got to see this little market that opens for just 3 hours Saturday mornings from about dawn to 9 AM, in the style of markets back in North Viet Nam, and wanted to share it with others who might be interested.

Jimmer Fredette is my Favourite Mormon, Who’s Yours?

Jimmer Fredette

After a basketball season of seeing highlights of BYU basketball sensation Jimmer Fredette, my pretty agnostic self and I have decided the Jimmer is my favourite Mormon.

Now, I don’t know many Mormons. Nor do I know of many Mormons. However, that didn’t mean he had no competition in my decision. I spent some time to beef up my Mormon knowledge through a web site listing famous Mormons, which is more than any Mormon have gotten me looking into Mormonry, and I still didn’t find anyone who made me smile or got me as psyched as Jimmer has this year. No Mormon have ever gotten me to blog about Mormons or Mormonry, either.

President Barack Obama

Please click here to see how President Obama’s Brackets did after Round 1.

For the third year in a row, President Barack Obama has released his NCAA Basketball March Madness brackets. This year’s men’s edition sees a lot of key presidential qualities, which I will point out shortly. I will also be reporting by round on the progress of America’s most famous brackets, for the men’s tournament, like I did in previous years (2010, 2009). I will report in terms of the President’s Barackets performance against all those who entered in various large pools like those from CBS and ESPN. So please come back here and join me in checking da Prez’s Barackets progress after each round.

Below is President Obama’s Barackets for 2011, with a video of his reasoning for his picks. Have a look for yourself, then see why I see a lot of presidential qualities in his picks.

TED 2011 Ads Worth Spreading Winners Far Better Than Super Bowl Collection!

The TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) community just released its 2011 Ads Worth Spreading contest winners, and the ads are more super than the ones I saw for the Super Bowl! But what did you expect from a brilliant group who’s moniker is “Ideas Worth Spreading”? Here are the ads below, in no particular order.

The ads tend to be longer than the Super Bowl ones, where time is so expensive, though the Chrysler Born of Fire and Volkswagen’s The Force are both here. Hey, the cream does rise to the top no matter where you put it. But you know, if ads were this good, I wouldn’t care how long they went on. They’d be better than most things I’d ever find on television!

Some of these ads are also not widely seen, especially in North America, because they come from the world over and not all of these ad makers have money for American television time, much less Super Bowl. However, as a whole collection, I’d take this over the top Super Bowl ads I’ve seen in any year!

This is part 1 of 3 since there are too many commercials to put into one blog post. The link to Part 2 is at at the end.

Enjoy and be prepared to be wowwed!!!
