Canada Post employees, which have been on strike for about 3 weeks in some parts of the country, are the fortunate beneficiaries of some tough back to work legislation passed by the Canadian government Saturday night (Jun 25).

In an age when Canada Post’s services are less needed by the day, their union leadership was still talking and walking the picket lines like they had essential services as bargaining power. A lot of people still only rely on their services because their services were still available, like procrastination or denial for learning new technology. Canada Post union leadership failed to recognize this, and were in total denial that those dinosaurs to the electronic age would not learn if their vital communication lines were severed.

About these ads

On Aug 9 2009, I volunteered as a photographer for the 3rd annual Credit Union Atlantic Lung Run 5K. These photos go out with the return invitation to participants for this year’s race. This year, though, the race is being held on Saturday, April 10 instead of its usual August date.

Below are some of my favourite pictures from the set I got. They are 720 x 480 pixels so they should each load reasonably quickly, but they are not meant for printing. You can just click on the thumbnail to see the larger version, and follow through via other thumbnails, or click at the title to get back to the entire gallery.

How diverse are your friends in terms of geographical origin, and culture with a lot of that? How does that compare to your friends’ friend diversity.

Find out by tagging your friends on these Facebook friends diversity tagging challenges.

  • The first one is of Asian countries.
  • The second is of European countries by flags.
  • The third is of European countries by coat of arms, for the smarty pants.
  • The fourth is for Canadians counting friends from various provinces and territories.
  • The fifth is for Canadians counting friends living in various provinces and territories.

Ideally, I know I’d have memes with more than just “regional” representation for diversity, but it’s hard to tag and make out over 150 countries on a meme, you know. It’s also hard to make one for the 50 US states. Other regions, meanwhile, just don’t have enough. But you can probably count on the fact that you probably have lots of friends either like you and/or like each other so in a way, these memes are not bad for design. Most Europeans, for example, probably have lots of European friends to really give the meme an honest effort. I have lots of Canadian friends like my fellow Canadian friends to give the meme a good go at filling it all out. Anyway, that’s what I have. I apologize if there isn’t one that suits you.

Here’s how to get these graphics for your tagging fun:
