I Love a Good Slightly Racist Song

This fall, I started to learn swing dancing, Lindy Hop more specifically. I am absolutely loving it, but not just for the dancing. The music is also absolutely phenomenal. I knew of some of the songs played before, but I’ve also not heard many, so I am also engaged in finding good music I had never heard. It was during one of these sessions to build my Swing play list on Spotify that I found this awesome gem called the Oriental Swing that’s a little racist, but totally acceptable to me (an Asian) considering it was done in 1938. :-)

These posts are for music I first heard in 2014 which I love and want to share. This one is just super! Great story, great groove, great tune to sing to. I don’t know why it’s not more popular and frequently played! Great video, too!

I just LOVE it! I can even shadow box dance to it, lol!

There are other videos with just the music, and not video and audio clips of Ali but not as fun, in my opinion. That’s the stuff that inspired this song!

This second entry in 2014 for songs I heard for the first time that I like a lot is Sha La La (Makes Me Happy) by Al Green.

Why do I like it? Just the groove it has, I would say. Appropriate with it being a 70s song from 1974. And that’s about it, to be honest. But it was groovy enough for me to add it to my list. :-)

I hope you like it, too!

One thing I’ll be better at blogging this year is music I hear for the first time, likely old songs, which I really like and want to share. I love it when I find new music I really enjoy, so it’s only natural to share. While the songs will often be old since I don’t care for a lot of music these days, it’s new to me.

This first entry for 2014 features Fleetwood Mac‘s Over and Over, written by Christine McVie. I just love its mellow nature that is also present in some of her other songs like As Long as You Follow (also embedded below). If what they say is true about being able to see people’s soul through their eyes, or hear it through their singing and songs, then I KNOW I love Christine McVie’s soul!

And if I were the Devil, let’s just say I’d be paying a good premium for it! LOLMuahahahaha….

Did that ruin the mood of the whole thing? Enjoy!

A Renewable Marriage License

I came across this song today that I thought was a fantastic concept!
